Should I trade my Sapphire pulse rx 6600 and 200 aud for a gigabyte 3060ti?

Besides the obvious performance gain, I was looking for advice on whether or not its worth the price for the upgrade, and if it will give me better thermals as my current card hits 90 degrees under load, which is probably not the end of the world but I don't like it. For context I have a Msi mag 650w 80+ bronze Psu, a 5600 cpu, my mobo is a prime b450 m-a-ii (ik pci 3 x 16 is sad) and my Case is the Okino's Cypress 3. My main hope is that this upgrade will allow me to play at over 100 fps on Borderlands 4 high settings when it comes out in September. Please Let me know if this would be worth it, Thankyou

200 and your GPU for a 3060ti? Not a chance.

I would say yes the 3060ti should be around 40-45% faster and has access to DLSS transformer which is more useful at 1080p than legacy FSR which is the resolution I hope you are using these gpu's at.

130 usd for a 40% ish bump isn't terrible in 2025. As long as the 3060ti is from a source you trust.

The 3060 Ti barely gets 100 FPS in Borderlands 3. So there is no way it will get over 100 in the new one:

With frame gen and DLSS4 it just might. We will first need to see the game run on our hardware to know 100%.

I wouldn't own a gigabyte video card. $50 -$100 plus the card is more like it.

I wouldn't bother. Go higher, at least 3080 (but if you buy an actual 3080 you will need to either undervolt it or to upgrade your PSU cuz it's one peckish monster; 4070 is much less watt-happy).

No frame gen on 3000 series

6600 + 200 sounds like a terrible deal. I could see maybe $50.

I'd try to get a used 4070. It has basically the same power consumption as a 3060ti, but would be a much bigger step up in performance.

EDIT: As someone else said, expecting to get 100fps in Borderlands 4 with a 3060ti is unrealistic. Especially with High settings.

yeah that´s a bad deal and you would still be stuck at 8gb frame buffer .
rtx 3080 or the rtx 4070 would be a much better deal
your power supply should be able to handle it since the rest of your system consumes almost nothing (below 100w of power combined)
the average power consumption while gaming (assuming rtx 3080) should be around 400w with occasional spikes which should still not be high enough to trigger OCP/OPP protections .

that being said if you decide to go with a higher end older gen video card it would be wise to replace your power supply at some point (sooner rather than later)

I don’t know the available qualities for borderlands 3, but usually @W1zzard tests on ultra. IF so, 100 fps with high settings shouldn’t be a problem for borderlands 4.

Uh no .. Border Lands 4 = Unreal Engine 5. For expected performance check some recent UE5 releases.
3060 Ti playable will probably be like 1080p, no RT and DLSS Performance

Dont ask us pple for advice as its not usa market. The 3060ti are well priced on used market with cards at around 350-370aud. The vanila 3060 12gb is way overpriced atm with lots of pple asking for 300+ aud. The 6600 will be limiting you on b450 as you dont have pci exp gen4,so the card runs at pci exp gen 3 x8. Dont worry about frame gen, its rubish at low fps. On 1080 the 6600 will give you the 3060 performance, on higher res the 3060 runs away due to higher mem bandwidth. 3060ti will give you aprox 25% more performance vs 3060 and 6600 on low res. Second hand market for 6600 is around 220 to 230aud. So you are looking at 420 to 430 trade to 3060ti. That is not a good deal. For that i would be looking for a 3070 non ti.

What about my 6600 and 50 USd for a 6600xt 3 fan Oc model (doesnt sound like a big deal but mine is always getting hot)

Yeah I live in Australia so The amount of better priced options go out the window, especially since Im broke as all hell

-If you're broke, keep using your 6600.

It ain't pretty but there is still plenty the card can play, it just won't be the latest and greatest at max settings.

rx6600 and 50 bucks for step up to a 3060ti or 6600xt sounds a bit more like it. i'd probably make that trade.

Bad time to do any switching, save up and get a 16gb card, Brand new in box.

Also your thermals are dependent on your room temperature.
