What are you playing?

Curently playing Doom TDA on nightmare difficulty, imo the best game of the new trilogy.

I tried playing Portal tonight again after being dormant in my backlog for years. Same as last time, I just get stuck about an hour in and can't figure out one of the puzzles. I know I could just look it up, but I don't want to. Frustrating. Back to the backlog for a few more years. I guess I am just not smart enough for Portal, I don't know.

Anyways, I am having 10/10 fun with Monster Train 2, so I will just keep binging that.

-Just look up the solution to that puzzle. Part of patient gaming and backlog clearing is "ain't nobody got time for that" and if you're getting stuck in the same place over and over, potentially due to either poor game design or a personal flaw, there is no harm in looking up the solution.

I've cleared enough older games at this point that I know it's a 50/50 on either I'm just not seeing the solution or there is legitimately a glitch or poor game design preventing me from progressing.

If Portal 1 is in the way of you playing portal 2, then I doubly recommend completing P1 by any means necessary.

I don't recall getting stuck for too long in either of the Portal games (and I'm not what I'd call the most intelligent person), but it has been forever since I played it. I recall a few puzzles taking some thought and time, but nothing that was a real roadblock. Now I'm wondering what puzzle it is. Is it the one with the large glass wall and the gap at the top? I think there was a puzzle like that in the first one near the middle-end.

Possibly what I'm most excited to play this year - Coupled excitement with it running UE 4.26 so it won't stutter like most UE5 hags...

Yes... I pre-purchased it back as soon as it was listed... No... I'm not ashamed...
lol

Just spent my evening winding down with Windows XP SP3 and it's Swiss Army Knife of included entertainment... XP was the last time this game was included and I enjoy the chiptune-style audio

Don't eat this snow. It looks pretty gross!

Wow... blast from the past...

Mudrunner was awesome, I haven't played Snowrunner or the new expedition game... Spinning tyres is so much fun
They just released a new one about building roads and infrastructure:

I saw some posts about it and checked it out - This looks awesome!

Since being licensed to drive trucks, heavy machinery sim games really grasped my interest

Even all these years later it is disappointing. Base game all the way through to latest map have almost zero snow.
It's so dire even the massive amounts of mods ignore it.

but im in for the fan service!!!!!

The free demo just dropped pre-release if you want to test it out

Alright, so Stellar Blade then...

I am pleased to say:

A stutter-free experience - Yes!
Seamless load times - Yes!
Audio mix - *Chef's kiss*
Enhanced visuals/performance that consoles aspire to have - Yes!
Can scale performance to run well on low-end hardware - Yes!
A framerate cap that does NOT cap inconsistently - Yes! (looking at those games that cap 1fps above the target :wtf:)
Fan service - Yer' damn right! :peace:

Waiting 412 days 'til PC release - Worth it. UE4 outshining UE5 by far!

You've got a 5090. IF you're having a frame-stutter problem, the company making the game has some huge problems..
Not even the best current hardware can save us from those UE5 games where the main quest is to stutter like you got kicked in the family jewels with a steel-tipped boot.

This was a welcoming experience amidst all the crap, believe me!

Same here, I've been waiting for this damn game since the day it was announced as Project Eve. 'meanwhile playing their other F2P game since day 1..'
Stellar1.jpg

It runs well even on my 3060 Ti and it has a proper 21:9 support from the get go like any single player game should have in 2025..
Currently I have the demo maxed out with DLSS 4 Quality and its mostly holding the 100 fps global cap I have via RTSS and yes for a UE title this is very smooth. 'Supposedly the full game will have RT so that might changes things, luckily I'm getting a new GPU before the full game drops.:D'

The game also plays pretty well, it kinda reminds me of how Darksiders 3 plays like it does have souls like mechanics but its faster than that more like an action game which is perfect for me.
I'm also buying the complete edition and gonna play it on the launch day, no shame or regrets. :)'I'm also taking a week off from my job since I need a break anyway and this is the perfect reason to do it when this game launches.'
This also means that I have to finish DOOM Dark Ages before that so I better get to it huh..

Yes, also played Goddess of Victory: Nikke since day 1..

SB scales well on hardware back to the 1060 6gig - I hope RT doesn't wreck it
And yes. Men of culture settle for nothing less than the complete edition :toast:

ok all settings very high, native
100+ frames after intro
TAA
base sharpness 0
rendering scale 200
motion blur and film grain off

the game doesnt like even a safe undervolt  but i like the game ...hmmm hmm cough cough! the game ok

Does anyone knows if Sony is gonna pull out the same crap they did with GOW ragnarok and GOT ?? pushing that PSN link account bs

not just UE5. look at monster hunter wilds,
monster hunter world was demanding in its time but with a few tweaks even looked good for mid hardware.
With Wilds theres no mid point, game is optimized like dog sh%^&*

salut!!

This game is pure fan service in every angle..I am trying the Demo with a 4090 in native 4k without DLSS4 and its still 135-160 FPS..not too shabby!!

SB is very light on the CPU, highly optimised

Agreed MH Wilds is a can of worms on steroids

And no, PSN account is not required for PC play, however, the game is stillset to be blocked in a few countries via Steam...
Early May was about 130 blocked countries... As of right now - 10 and subject to change
Check blocked countries here

In the meantime, here's a light fix for the distinguished gentlemen among you ;)

Kick it into 4K using native DLAA and 50% sharpness to maximize that fan service! DLAA is lovely, and DLSS' Transformer Model does a great job keeping hair rendering intact.

HDR in this game is awesome!

Not touching frame gen yet... Will only check that implementation as soon as muscle memory is good

Well, bought PC Game Pass (Xbox), and played Avowed (enjoyed, no issues), then played through Doom, The Dark Ages (enjoyed - no issues), and tried Stalker 2 (v1.4).

OMFG.

Several CTD's within a minute of playing. Someone said turn of Afterburner. Did that. Still crashed. Web said to disbale DLSS and Reflex - did that. Still crashed after a minute or two. I know it was buggy, but this is a whole new level. Will uninstall (again) unless anybody has any constructive ideas. I expected it to be glitchy. But I've not had a game CTD on me like this for ages.

You just remembered how baffled I am with Game Pass on WoA. My Lenovo X1E laptop came with a 3-month trial of GP Ultimate, which I was considering activating now with some of the latest releases on the catalog... except it is cloud-only on ARM. What the hell?
I know the hardware is no heavyweight, but I can (AND DO) run many games no issue (and many others with workarounds) with Steam and Heroic. Hell, Persona 3 Reload (demo) plays easily via Steam, why isn't Xbox able to install it locally?

Right now, there is no acceptable way to enjoy S2's visuals with respectable performance and not find immersion-breaking bugs, especialy NPC's being all cocked-up

I gave up

No valid reason to play it atm...
