This is absolutely disgusting. I've seen worse in this thread, but I never imagined that MY console would turn out to be just them.
It seems like the fins had oxidized themselves somehow, and there's a kind of stupid residue that I can't wipe off. Even sanding didn't work.
Microsoft definitely used TOO much thermal paste here.

I'm afraid of those capacitors falling off so I couldn't clean them all but you gotta admit that the die does look cool.

My arms are sore after this. I think the heatsink is PURE copper and it's got to be about a few kilograms. Call me a femboy or whatever you like, I'd like to see YOU try and hold that thing for half an hour with ONE hand while trying to brush the dust off EVERY corner imaginable.

Anyway, I've got an idea, although I'm sure this belongs to the Ghetto Mods thread...

dishwashing liquid works well for cleaning heatsinks. Do you smoke? if yes, that would be the nicotine staining.

No I don't smoke. My dad does, but he usually do it on the balcony. I don't get why people like smoking, though. Smoking sort of kills you more than bringing you pleasure.

Ooh, I didn't know this thread existed!!

Once I had to "repair" a CPU which had stopped booting from a friend. He's a lazy smoking bum, so I had prepared vynil gloves... they weren't enoug. The filters were so clogged he had open the case so it could ventilate. After that, his cat marked its turf inside the case. What a nice clusterfuck.

I don't have photografic evidence, and believe me, you wouldn´t want to see (or smell).

I am genuinely scared right now. By the looks of it, I use the exact same memory stick. However, I'm also trying to convince my parents to get me a cat. This is too much of a coincident. Is this some sort of foreshadowing you see in horror movies?
How did cat piss even get into the pc anyway? Did the unfortunate cat owner open their pc panel? Or did the cat just soak it with pee or something?

cats usually hate change. my gfs cat likes to sit on my computer. i just need to protect the power button. i don't think he wants to pee on it lol

That cable management is just perfect. They would provide perfect cushioning if one of those routers or whatever they are decided to escape. Also, it seems like they really care about their PC. They even put insulation inside the case to protect it from the cold.

The owner had so much sticky dirt (he smokes, a lot) on the filters that the airflow was severely impaired. So, instead of cleaning them, he retired the lateral panel.

Lovely, isn't it?
