Called "Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles", it's releasing September 30th this year. It features updated visuals, a new UI, voice acting, and other quality of life features.

Here's an article about it (I searched to see if TPU already had one for this announcement but I didn't see it, so if I missed it, I apologize).

This is yet another rumored title from the nVidia leak at the end of 2021 that has come to see the light of day... which leaves only one certain title *sneezes* from Square Enix that was on the list but hasn't yet been confirmed. That's the one I'm far more excited about... but since this is a thread about Tactics, has anyone else heard of this, or played the original back in its day? I never did, and while its world presentation/interface and combat style isn't one that appeals to me the most, neither are a detractor. It's supposed to have one of the better stories in the series, so I might consider this one when it releases.

That said, I haven't played it in ~15 years (using original PS1 disc on PS3 backward compatibility mode). Think I played through it twice during the PS1 era.

Easy day one purchase if they ever bring it to PC, but not gonna buy a console just for this (PS3 was the last one I owned; mainly for BD playback).

Hm, I may check this one out. The original was never released here in PAL area (though my friend had a modded PS1, remember seeing him playing it back in the day).

And luckily it's coming for PS4 as well since I'm not in a need for a newer console - at least not yet.

It looks like it's coming to most current platforms. The icons at the end of the trailer suggests the following platforms; PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, Switch, Switch 2, and PC (Steam). That seems to be basically everything "current" besides the Xbox One X? I'm not familiar with the console side of things so maybe there's a reason Xbox One X isn't focused on while PlayStation 4 is.

I never knew it wasn't released there. That's another good reason for re-releases, even if they aren't remasters.

Valkyrie Profile was also one which we didn't get, I think I may finally play it on an emulator. Also one thing which I hated on the "old days" was that PAL releases came always almost about an year later than JP/NA ones, sucked to read game magazines and get hyped yet still had to wait for longer than on NTSC regions.

Luckily these days games are released practically the same day internationally, maybe with a day or two difference, but at least not that long waiting like before. And funnily it's now Japan which may have that day or two of delay.

But yeah, there were some JRPGs which we PAL gamers didn't get, luckily now there are international rerelases. We didn't get Parasite Eve as well.

I try to avoid watching trailers of JRPG's [off-topic reasons].. sorry I didn't see the Steam logo.

Just watched it though, and yeah.. totally buying this!

Was hoping it would get a larger update than this, voice acting is kinda nice but I never minded reading either so it doesn't excite me all that much.

With them working on so many others projects not surprised though.

Gonna be honest and say I found the FFVII Remake unplayable, so I'm pretty stoked that they haven't done much to it.

Just give it to me on a modern platform without having to emulate and I'm happy. Although Squeenix has a history of really low effort mobile ports to PC, so it goes both ways I suppose.

Hopefully this will be Goldilocks 'just right' recipe.
