MSI has released the latest AMD AGESA ComboPI-1.2.0.3e BIOS, supporting all AMD AM5 models, including X870, B850, B840, X670, B650, and A620 chipsets. This update not only adds support for upcoming new CPUs, but also enables all AM5 motherboards to support large-capacity 64 GB x4 DRAM chips. MSI motherboards have been optimized for overclocking large-capacity DRAM—compatible with DRAM chips from Micron, Hynix, and Samsung. Even with four 64 GB DRAM fully installed, the system can still achieve a stable overclocking speed of 6000 MT/s, and even up to 6400 MT/s.

In addition, this update optimizes 2DPC 1R capability and includes overclocking enhancements specifically for Samsung's 4Gx8 chips. AGESA 1.2.0.3e has already been rolled out to selected AM5 800 series models, users are able to find the updated BIOS on the MSI website, and MSI will continue to update the remaining AM5 models as soon as possible. Get ready to enjoy the powerful performance brought by memory overclocking!

Impressive...

Started using computers when you only had 640KB.

Still have a Spectrum 48k at home. And now, even my dishwasher machine has more process power and memory than that.

I hope that Asus also comes up with a similar update. All the latest BIOS that I've tried wouldn't allow me to even achieve 4800MHz stable.

I recently heard someone mention that a modern person generally consumes more data in a day than a scholar of the past did in a year...

The modern person is consuming large quantities of video which of course has more data than a text when you think in terms of information content in bytes. Whether it's really more useful information is an exercise best left up to the reader.

That "Dopamine Nation" book springs to mind, especially the mention of ease of access (think the context was vaping in the interview I saw)

As an aside, or back on topic, ASUS currently have a bios in beta. Interested to see if it can stabilize higher FCLK frequencies...

Oh hell yeah, you love to see it. Guess I can add a 128GB stack in the future.
Good luck getting anything resembling XMP speeds or normal boot times with that. Expect 15 minute boots.

I think 128GiB DRAM is possible with fast boot times with two 64Gib modules. There is already support for 64Gib modules.

Ah yes, 2dimm should be doable, I was thinking 4 dimm. Completely forgot 2x64=128 lol.

Does not matter as ASUS did not ship, Variant b, Variant c, Variant d AGESA for a very long time with my current ASUS AMD X670 mainboard.

AMD needs to open source the POST sequence so users can patch that hole stuff themself. I'm tired to have 5 weeks no update with security hole in the past for the picture bug in Winter for the uefi.. I think this time it was over 2 or 3 months with Variant a AGESA when others already had b, c, d or even e. FACTS = ASUS does not ship uefi updates. When they do, tehy are delayed by weeks. See the list i provided above.

I have 2 rules. Don't buy Asus or Samsung - I've been burnt in so many arenas by both. I used to evaluate and design repair solutions for 3g/4g/5g BTS solutions - Samsung, run and hide. Imho everything they do is shite. BOM engineering - the worst of the worst. I do not know how they have become the powerhouse they apparently are. Siemens are not much better - let's have 3 control PCBs linked with CAN when we used to run simple analogue sense circuits that would run for 20 years and wouldn't shit themselves the first thunderstorm.

KISS, if you know you know.
