NVIDIA N1x is the Company's Arm Notebook Superchip

But I can tell you what it will not be...

1.) More performant than AMD or Intel at the high end
2.) Cheaper than AMD or Intel
3.) Upgradeable beyond a SODIMM module
4.) Compatible with all Windows software and games
5.) Windows ARM will be as stable and compatible as x86
How a simple goy like you can guarantee us such things?
Is this because you know how to crystal ball the future?

Just remember that these CPU's will be only $50, and all software just works! Almost free computing for everyone, and they will be handing notebooks and tablets based on these out like candy to kids... So much better than anything we have ever had before!

Nah, I just don't understand this ARM on desktop thing either...

But hey, the battery might last a couple of hours longer!

I think you meant to say upgradeable beyond storage? There's almost no WAY nVidia would allow upgradeable RAM in any form factor. That's way too pro-consumer. Now that I think about it, expandable storage might be a stretch for them too. But, unlike Apple, they'd be competing with 3 other platforms, so expandable storage becomes a maybe.

As for stability/compatibility with Windows, this is why I hope nVidia just focus on Linux. The thought of nVidia working with Valve to continue to expand and improve SteamOS/Proton to eventually release another major platform on it, and the enhancements nVidia could bring to the Linux Kernel overall, would be incredible.

However, since it is likely that they will focus on Windows (and they likely will thanks to the existing app library plus huge support from Microsoft), there is no company I can think of besides nVidia that could possibly pull off perfecting Windows on ARM. Qualcomm has either given up, was never able to fully deliver, or has never cared.

Fun fact: Nvidia is actually trying to push for upgradeable LPDDR5X RAM really hard:
But they have had issues with supply for those.
CAMM is not a good fit for larger bus sizes, nor more dense scenarios, so it's a no-go for such cases. There's no easy way to have fast, upgradable RAM in a compact manner.

All of their current offerings already have expandable storage.

Yes, for their multi-billion dollar enterprise customers who actually have the ability to design their own accelerators in-house (like Google, Amazon, M$), they’re happy to offer SOCAMM. After seeing the struggles with Strix Halo not being friendly to expandable memory, I doubt nVidia will bother offering it on their consumer APUs.

As for expandable storage, Apple does not offer user-expandable laptop storage.

I don't think SOCAMM will be ready by the time the N1X is out, so I don't think it'll happen anytime soon either.

I was referring to Nvidia.

Oh my god. Do some research before you show how deficient you are in your knowledge. nGreedia are not first to the party.
What the fuck are you saying?????????????
If ARM will go mainstream!!!
then Asus,Lenovo and so on - Won't give you upgradable ram/ssd etc... just because there's nvidia doing so on Dell laptops???
:kookoo: :kookoo: :kookoo: :kookoo: :kookoo: :kookoo: :kookoo:

I forgot to say!!!

We didn't yet saw Dell's laptops
with NVIDIA N1x on board to conclude in a definitive way that it won't be upgradable.
Making such implications just because nGreedia is very dumb, because in reality nobody knows if ARM based laptops will be or not upgradable.

Are you ok?

Are you ok?
I'm here & ok.
Waiting for your crystal ball words to become true, if not, then please, delete your account & never ever come back here again.

Do you accept the challenge?

As I told before ➡ making such implications is very dumb just because nGreedia.
Another very important thing which here nobody keeps in mind is: ARM is not mainstream yet!

So at this point
- Could we wait for another 2 or 3 years to see - how the things will really settle up???

OK child, I accept. Please tell me exactly what I said that got your knickers wet?

Again, it's all speculation... It could go either way as I already explained... But tell me, when was the last time nVidia made a pro-consumer decision?

As to your second point...

ARM is not mainstream?

What a hilariously stupid assertion.

ARM is 100% of the smartphone market and 90-95% of the tablet market, and with Apple transitioning to their own chips, it has reached above 10% of the desktop and laptop marketshare. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if more of today's software development hours were dedicated to ARM over x86, apart from corporate/enterprise environments (which aren't considered mainstream anyways). Literally the only thing keeping x86 alive is Windows, which M$ has been feverishly trying to open up to ARM architectures either natively or through emulation for over a decade now.

ARM is not mainstream?
It's not in the same way like Intel & Amd that you can easily pick any ARM cpu to build your desktop PC at home - Surprised!?!?!?!!?!?!!?
Thus ... if for domestic desktop ARM will reach the popularity on pair with Intel & AMD, then I will fully recognize ARM being 100% mainstream - till that moment!
for me, ARM is another exotic platform like Risc-V.

P.S: Do you understand my point now?
