Ghetto Mods

ROFLMAO

It reminds me of the Adrenaline's (a Brazilian tech page) Crisis PC:

Standoffs exist you know. And the power supply in a bulk state is not very safe, let alone in a cardboard box. 5-pound power supply and cardboard don't mix well.

The most ghetto Nvidia press kit and it looks sturdy enough. Well. I have no idea what a ghetto is, but add ITX and SFX somewhere and you're done.

That is what I thought too lol..
I think they were aiming at the environmentally friendly aspect type crowd.

I've got an idea...

It would be cool to see the Xbox light up like a Christmas tree.

EDIT: It seems like a 140mm fan would work better. I actually thought about it a bit more and figured that if I use an usb RGB control station for those mobos that don't have ARGB support I can remote control it and make it light up in different colors. Just gotta figure out whether the fan would fit though... I remember the Xbox had a 130mm fan.

Lawnmower filters. But I guess they have a big impact on airflow, so I use a double row of fans. The back opening is only 7.5 by 8 cm, although the front is 11 cm. I'll definitely use them on my power supply.

Soooo while I was reinstalling my 120mm AIO, the pump cable got caught up and I accidentally tore two of the wires off (didn't know this until I opened it up :)). I am not gonna throw away a perfectly working AIO, because if this, so I whipped up my soldering iron and glue gun and did what I could on the go.

Keeps my i5-13500 @ 29-30C on dekstop use.

Hmm...

I replaced the stock cooler with something better on my GTX 260 (Alpenföhn Heidi), GTX 680 (Thermalright Shaman) and the family PC's 9800 GT (Arctic Accelero L2 Pro). But those don't really count because that's not a ghetto mod, that's a regular mod.

But I did ghetto mod my 1080 Ti for a while until I switched to water cooling.

It was a very simple mod since all I needed was some zip ties and a fan header adapter so I could still use the GPU's own fan controller. The cooler on the MSI GTX 1080 Ti Gaming was almost perfect for putting two 140mm fans on top.

dekstop use
I don't know if that's a typo or deliberate, but I am currently filled with hatred and loathing... with only minor amounts of exaggeration used

Addendum - the most ghetto thing I've ever seen was actually in the server room of a prospective customer:

(I think I've blanked out anything that could be potentially identifiable.)

Yep, that's a desktop PSU just hanging out the back of a 1U server. The only thing keeping it secured is the 24-pin cable.

... I recommended against taking the customer.

That is ghetto.
I used to strap or glue fans onto video cards all the time, especially when those old dinky fans crudded up or burned out. VooDoo cards especially needed them as many of them had no fan at all. Simple 70mm or 80mm fan did the job. Before using it to fix coil whine, that was the first thing I used with super glue in PCs.

I used to use garbage bag twist ties before I started respecting myself :D

I have a picture somewhere of servers being supported by foam on top of a 48U server rack. I'll be back at that datacenter at some point. I'll check if they're still there.
