Id love to kayak down the river here. but 1. Its polluted as hell. and 2. I think we need a license for that (not joking)

Just the other day I watched a guy dump a large tub of his dirty laundry water (with detergent) straight into the river. He lived on one of the boats though and I think they are allowed to dump some stuff but im not sure how much. Either way it just annoyed the hell out of me.

We have to register boats if they are motorized, but kayaks and canoes are fair game. You do need a fishing(/hunting) license though.

Lots of public land and water around here. A bunch of lakes from hydro dams.
