Hey fellow TPU´s

I know this is a rare and small part of systems builders that actually makes dual systems or maybe more than 2 two systems in there 1 case.

So in short i was curious to see if others has a build with two or more pc´s in one case?

If possible, pictures are wellcome.

My own build can be seen in this build log: https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/...ct-2-systems-in-1-case-all-air-cooled.283169/

What is the use case for such dual system?

I've thought about building something like that and had two systems in one case for a while but the second one was basically running the monitoring and external screen with monitoring data. By now, I moved this whole shebang outside the case again.

Streaming or offloading a process.

It can be for various reasons it´s used.

1. Some has this setup as a gaming and streaming setup.
2. some have there main pc and server in the same case
3. backup pc (one of my reasons for having 2 systems)

For my part.

I used them for homework and gaming. So one can gets some converting going on and and the other i game on as i wait or both do some work.
It´s also nice when friends comes over. we both have a pc to use, with out he has to carry is laptop or desktop with him as both systems are capable of gaming. one more than the other throw.
It´s also nice to know is one system goes to shit, i have a backup unit.

Back before I got my 7950x and B650 LiveMixer I was still working on my downsizing trend and thinking of doing that but at a smaller scale. It seems Linus probably bought the last 2 orange cases in existence so I'm out of luck for the moment.

I think dual systems are pretty cool.

My single system chews hella power, so probably for the best..

Ah so you wanted a mini-itx dual system i asume. That could be pretty cool to.

Yeah and exspensive, well depending on how you configurate it off cause. I can´t belive its been 4 years now since i build this rig. Still going strrong throw.

About power. there are ways to reduce power consumption and i use them all. undervolting, set power limits down on both gpus and cpu and such. off cause at the espence of reduced fps in games and general performance. but you set your onw limits and by that how low you want to go in performance vs. saving power.

With my current configuration, i can get my 5600X system as low at 210-220 watt while gaming. that is the total popwer consumption so speakers and screen included. at worst this is like 350 watt at full tilt.
My 5950X at the lowest 300-320 watt in games. while off cause if i let it lose it can gulp down 700-900 watt depending on stock or oc. this is also including monitor and speakers.

So i think i have a fair chance to reduce power consumption when possible.

want some tips to reduce power consumption. just ask

For me it was the cost of Mini ITX boards that ruined Dual systems. I have had cases like the Phanteks Enhoo 2 ot Thermaltake Level 20. That both supported dual systems but the cost of Mini ITX boards always put me off. Now that they are cheaper it might be a reality for me.

I see. Well if you can afford it and have the need. Go for it. my build was fun to build, but not with a few problems on the way.

I used to have one but that was absurdly awkwardly built, total ghetto. Have no need for it and even if I had, I'm flat broke so maybe in a distant future...

So a ghetto build, could still had been fun to see it. Yeah a dual system can need some deep pockets.

Hello, Yes, have had one for about 3 years now. Got the TT M200 case, actually I have 2 of them but only one is populated with 2x desktops.
The idea was to multitask but after actually building it I found remote accessing the secondary system more cumbersome than just spinning my chair over to the desktop behind me :)

Was too long ago, photos are lost. Everything from these systems had been sold.

So you have a dual system now, if i understand.
Cool.

I just use a hvm switch to move between my two systems.

Ah a shame. But off cause, of that was like 15-20 years ago. It can be herd to want to save pictures from that long ago.

What is the use case for such dual system?
Program isolation that for whatever reason cannot be solved by virtualization or containers.
Anybody can find a purpose to have a two system setup but two systems sharing a case?
Even with my gigantic steel server coffin I think of a SBC shaped like a peripheral. Like a BC-250.
Imagine having something like that without the need to slot it into the board but fits no problem.
Could be useful for streaming, game emulation isolation, firmware demos or anything SBC specific.
That would be way more common than dual full size PCs and loaded peripherals. Still niche though.

Nah, I'm 30 y.o. and I had this dual PC around 8 years ago as an experiment. Had to sell it because went flat broke.

I see. Not fun when the economy goes belly up. I was there back when the financial crisis i 2008 broke out. Was with out job for two years. That took a tall on my budget to. But i manage to recover.
