hi all

listen i wanted help with a dusty pc i have, its more of a specific question than a general thread about dust (keep talking tbh) anyway,, check this pic pls

pcsz0.jpg

please look at the "GRILL" it acts like a vacuum cleaner, what can i do? is it safe to close this grill, tape somethin there? or maybe one of the fans is installed wrong way? (they all suck air out) thank you. :respect:

You should have the rear case fans blowing air out and the front fans blowing air in. The circulation of air is what is important here.

To be honest with you, your question is a little confusing.

If you have all the fans sucking out, it means all the little creases and crevices are sucking air in. Even air pressure makes for a cleaner case, as with any luck the dust that comes floating in, stays floating on it's way back out. Right now, the bottom and sides of your case are pulling in all the dust that settles on the table/desk/floor and once it gets inside it'll just sit there. The air flow isn't strong enough to pick and up and toss it into the circulation.

I would recommend taking that front fan and having it blow air in, and getting a small-ish fan for the Grill part, and twist-tie it on there. The grill is feeding cool air to your videocard, and that 2900pro can get awfully hot.

i liked your betty looks stalker dawg aha aha ahaaha

so u mean on the grill to put fan and it will be without power? just to disolve particles u mean? and also i think modding can be fun, u know? its money makeable.. yea 4sho anybody from israel? thank you thank you

woah, just b4 i wanted to click post reply i see this thread bout side fan blowing air in, and mine is blowin air out, so think about it, maybe if i put a powerfull sidefan that will blow air in, it'll create circulation? 4sho no? btw the rear fan is at default, like if u buy pc from vendor the default setting of fan will be, same as u told me to do.. no? again, appretiate your help thank you. wait. u recommended to do the same but with the rear fan.. aight aight gotcha, so on the grill the fan will be without power? just for disolving particles?
thank you btw the fron fan is sucking air in by default

maybe i will make the side fan blowing air in and make a turbulence? but i figured this case's air flow. the front fan is blowing air in and the rear out. like golfer said but the problem is that the front is a little jammed yes.. and the rear fan is kinda strong. add to the equation the side fan. it is blowing air in (it sounds like my life honestly wtf, keep writing ok) so it feeds the huge rear fan with air and its battling near the grill and the mighty 2900 fan so the grill acts like vacuum cleaner. pls simplify im off to sleep, i wanna mod the pc u lighted my fire in modding ty, excuse me for repeating myself im off medications

have a look at my airflow guide in my sig

slower air pulls in less dust so getting larger fans where possible will let you move the same air but because its spread out over a larger area it has a less powerfull sucking action to pull in dust. in most cases you have to just get a fan of the same size with less cfms and it wont be vaccuming up all the dust like it is now.

blow dusty air thru your case and it gets dusty.. there aint no answer except move the PC to a less dusty room or blow less dust thru the case.. less dust means less air..

all the rest is pure waffle..

Exactly. My apartment is horribly dusty. My room has a drop ceiling and just had some panels replaced due to a leak upstairs and so those rain dust in, place a dirty heating system where the filter looked like it hadn't been changed in years, plus old carpet that is a magnet for dust.

I have a HEPA filter on my desk that is pointed towards my pc and the dust buildup has slowed dramatically, I highly recommend one if you are in a dusty environment. Also, regular vacuuming and changing your filters on your furnace helps immensly as well

getting it off the floor will reduce dust as well

+1 to keaker's suggestion. I ran my computer on the ground... carpet = dust hazard... Anyway, the way I keep dust out is the old pantyhose trick... Works well... just clear every month or so and your set.

Tamin you have the same case as me! Can you show me how you managed to connect the top USB headers- I could never work out how?
here are some better pics of the case for people to see.

Omg.. Both theonetruewill & Tamin almost have identical case as I have?!

So then I have to ask you Tamin, does your case support 2 fans infront and 2 fans at the rear??

u have a clean room dude.. in a dusty one u would have to take your panty hose off and clean it em every day..

I keep my door closed, windows closed, and I vacuum it every 3 days.

hi

listen to the questions bout the case i will say: about the usb it worked by default, the usb's. i have mobo cd where i install usb drivers 2.0 i dunno if it enables these usb' outs, i have a look maybe upload the driver to the net maybe it will enable yours,,,
and TechnicalFreak sorry bro this case doesnt support 2 fans from both sides, in the back maybe something can be done but only if u mod it, and not use the pci slots,.. yea doesnt support ;)
thanks yo for the dust replyes, remember air flow is important :] and i think ill make the pc more flowy and maybe add that pantyhose, good idea.. and in general will check all the fans, flows, see whats best,, peace thank you

"theonetruewill" u have 4 video cards in that case? 4 real?

well if it gets dusty, keep a can of air, a computers best friend :D

It's off the floor sitting on top of my desk. But the dust still manages to gather on the inside of side window. The more I live in the place and vacuum the less dust is pulled in.

Also of course as Candle 86 said, a can of air is your best friend..

just buy an armor it has fan filters on the fans that blow air in the case:rockout:

Honestly, The most final final final solution for dust for people who don't mod (yet), is a pantyhose.

rubbish.. my knickers would need changing twice daily..

okay in an air conditioned room and if u dont need any air going thru the case but thats about all..

there aint no cure for dust only a very expensive passively cooled case.. or a micky mouse PC that dont need cooling.. :)

Wow I have that same case on my backup computer. Thats all I wanted to say.

im buyin thermaltake nine hundred case
