Hello all,
I need advice regarding which Xeon board to use-
1. Tyan tempest based on the 5100 chipset
or
2. Either the Asus or Supermicro 5400 chipset based boards
I'm going to be using 2 Xeon 5410 chips, and 4 gigs of memory
I'll either use the onboard graphics or a cheap nvidia 8600 based graphics card
The system is to be used for encoding video with the x264 encoder, while simultaneously surfing the net, running excel spreadsheets, encoding audio, etc. I'm usually running 3 things while encoding.
Would the 5400 chipset provide me any speed advantages in my scenario? I've read about a "Dual FSB" or something for memory access on the 5400, but nothing definitive.
Thanks for any input here,
steve
