CS:S fps with crossfire?

istink.. no idea what my northbridge voltage is.. set to auto i beleive.

oh ok... what temps should i stay under? It's running pretty cool right now at 3.0. I'm sure i'll be able to run stable at 3.2 at a high enough vcore.

So the 300+ fps i get from cs stress test is accurate for the performance of hd4850's crossfired you think? just wanant make sure on that first.

RoL, run the test on a single card and tell us what your average was.

Also, if you want to get some more out of your cpu, you'll need to mess with the northbridge voltage as well as the fsb voltage, but a c2q at 3ghz aint bad and shouldn't hold you back too much.

That was my point behind 3dmark, because CS:S is such an old game I doubt it would even work with crossfire.

When CSS came out crossfire was new, but it was out as well. The X800XTPE ran crossfire if I remember, and css was one of the games in the benchmarks. This is back in the day when the cards used an external dongle cable er whatever.

Aw okay, see I don't even remember when it came out.. All I know is you can play it on a 9800pro....

lol ah the 9800pro. My little brother got one for the family dell and I was SO jealous. All I had was an ATI all in wonder (gen 1) with 32mb of video ram lol. I had to play css at lowest settings, (dx7 I believe) and at 800x600. On the italy map I could go up to 1024x768 so I always voted for italy! LOL

when i ran the single card by unchecking enable crossfire in CCC, after running the stress test in cs s... I remember it falling about 20fps on average??? might have been more but def. not falling over 50. I ran everything on high settings 4x AA AF, 1440x900, or windowed

I'll post some more accurate number later tonight. I'm at work right now so Im just remembering off the top of my head. THanks again for all the help guys!

Is it a G0 or B3?

I see a lot of G0's on Intel boards peak out around 78-80c under stress.

Personally I like to see them stay under 70c, my personal systems never cross 60c.

Always run fullscreen

yeah, i was able to get 50+ fps max settings 1268x1024 with my old x1300PRO and amd 3400+, source engine was very powerful, yet very smart. 400 FPS is very high tho, a 4850 is worlds better than a 3870, there wouldnt be a 100fps difference between an old p4 proc and a QX9770, a CPU only adds so much...

I dunno about "worlds" but its better... I honestly almost miss my 3870, it ran so much cooler...
It's definitely a lot better with AA/AF

In this review http://www.fastsilicon.com/graphics-card-reviews/sapphire-x1300xt-crossfire-on-the-cheap-4.html the guy says he's running two x1300's in crossfire in css for a respectible 42fps average lol. Anyways, the game obviously supports crossfire, so if it's not saying you have crossfire try reinstalling or maybe even just deleting the config file and letting it rebuild one for you...

Eh it doesn't very well then... My little bro with a P4 3.0 1gb ram and a x1300pro gets 35ish fps 1280x1024 in max settings no aa/af

Its a G0, im pretty sure. And at 3.0 i never seen it go over 50C in temps. Its pretty good with temps so far. hehehe. so 300+ fps is a good reading for hd4850 crossfire???+

22,000+ 3dmark06 is about right for crossfire 4850's with your clocked chip.

oh cool.. hopefully that'll come out as a score tonight. I'll let you guys know later tonight how it goes and waht the result is....

yeah, ive always wanted a 3870, such a pretty and effecient little card... Hell, i would even trade my 8800GTS512 for one plus a bit of cash.

oh yeah.. thats what i do too... i use the stress test and set fps_max to like 800 or something. I would come out with a result of 320ish.

I tried to reinstall steam and still didnt' change anything with steam recognizing crossfire. i also emailed steam about it but no reply yet.

thats pretty insane with 440ish fps. i'd be a happy camper if i saw that. was it showing 440ish during the test or the final result avg was in the 440ish?

Just use fps_max 0. It will remove the cap altogether. I am running a 4870, but I have a E6600. It once was king but now is limiting the GPU's performance. Even OC'd to 3 GHz, only gave me around 100 FPS boost.

hey guys... so i'm running 3Dmark06 now. Weird thing though.. when i go to system specs, it only has it at 1 4800 series video card. but when i scroll down more. Under the PCI slot section, it has 1 device in each of the PCI Express 16 slots.. Not sure whats going on here.

CS:S runs at around 180 for me in the stress test. Average frames on a normal map are between 200 and 270.

On a really small custom map, with like 5 bots and fps_max 0, I have seen like 800FPS I think.

My old X800 had it at around 110, X1950 PRO at around 130, HD3850 at around 155 and now 4850 at 180 :)

oh okay.. so 180 on the stress test... i get like 270...so i guess crossfire is working? :) ... i also just finished my 3dMark06... resulted in 16497..not the 22000 that i was hoping would turn out like niko mentioned

Probably because your processor is clocked so low... :(

But that still sounds a little low to me anyways, I don't know I haven't tried a set in crossfire...

oh ok.. yeah.. .3dMark isn't recognizing my system as crossfire... should i try 2 bridges maybe? does anyone know if Asus Mobo's (i have the p5e deluxe with formula bios) have a setting to turn on crossfire?

LOL! I love CS this way! The game is so compatible yet so detailed that you just wanna throw Edge-Detect on this thing!

Eh... Ya that score is low for 2, but pretty high for a single so something is messed up...

Sounds more like you have the second card set for Physics, on benchmarks you want it set for rendering.

i tried to disable crossfire and ran it again.. it came out with a score of 13452.... is that a reasonable change from 2 to 1?
