I believe I explained why the Pro 4 was my much preferred choice before. The RMx is much better than the CX, as far as getting your system running reliably for years is concerned. Gold and above EVGA PSUs are generally reliable, while their bronze and white units are sometimes hit and miss.

Don't aim for being relevant for 4 years. Aim for getting the best that you can get right now, for the money that you have with as little issue as possible. Here are some of my suggestions SSD: Go for the Intel 660p. I don't randomly pick SSDs, so I guess this is just for personal preference...

In that context, I assume that by "cheap" he was referring to the "cheapest substantial upgrade" which solely boils down to performance per dollar. The cheapest upgrade to run code vein well, to be precise.

I don't see anything wrong with this nor with being very picky with GPU VRMs. GPU VRMs are hard to tell apart, no one does such things reliably. Having no one "up in arms with multi-page threads" isn't a good counterargument to why we shouldn't do this.

These number-of-phase arguments are getting a bit pretentious nowadays. A more efficient VRM design + good heatsinks trample number of true phases any time of the day. With Steel Legend's heatsinks Asrock went for bling bling instead of functionality as they did with the Pro 4.

Only for B450. For X570 it's a whole different story. MSI is generally the worst there.

I'm curious where you got that image from. From ages, Aris Mpitziopoulos has always produced efficiency curves akin to the one above. Anandtech does as well and maybe many others. Some PSU stretches to 35-55, 35-60, or 30-60, but most are on 30-50. The 550 W RMx, for example, is about 35-60...
