How bad is your upgrade itch?

Yeah I am ready for a GPU upgrade. I upgraded everything else when the 7800x3d was released just wanting a better GPU.

    Intel Core Ultra 9 285K

Wow, not a good showing. I hope the next revision improves this architecture, though it might be too late with AMD 9k X3d coming out. Right now is the time to put some money down on shorting Intel. LOL. Welcome back to 2013 stock prices.

:O Limits of air cooling [Intel]

The one crazy cooling idea I always wanted to try but never did was a complete Mineral Oil Submersion tank. It works really well, except the mineral oil eventually..rots? or gets disgusting. Looks fun, but actually doesn't cool as well as air..lol, still pretty fun idea.

:O Limits of air cooling [Intel]

I never said low-end. I would only recommend custom, like mine, that sits completely outside the Computer case. The rads, res and fans all reside in their own case. Besides cheap was never in the equation from op. Yes, they are amazing...but a big PIA. I had one on an Opteron 165 way back in...

:O Limits of air cooling [Intel]

I am not kidding you I think you inferred that. I 100% understand the lowest you can go is ambient on air or water. Just water can be much quieter for same level of cooling and is more capable of removing heat from the system. You don't need a bunch of custom vents and stuff, just slap a block...

:O Limits of air cooling [Intel]

The hard limit for air cooling is whatever Ambient is. If you are going to spend all the time and money on trying to get the pinnacle of air cooling...save your self some time and just switch to liquid cooling.

DDR5 Memory Performance Scaling with AMD Zen 5

1-2%? Sure, technically it is "better performance". Will I notice that extra performance...unlikely, especially in my use case as a gaming system. 1-2FPS isn't going to move the needle.

DDR5 Memory Performance Scaling with AMD Zen 5

Nice review. Good to know my DDR5 6000 is only about 1-2% slower than much more expensive, slightly faster ram. Not a single reason to even consider an upgrade. Not only that but if building a new system the cost of anything above 6000 is a very poor, nearly worthless ROI.

Update on the whole PC rebooting issue. There was an extra standoff in the case, but now it's crashing even more

I did this once as well, many years ago when switching from a ATX to a mATX. Consider it a lesson. Good chance the board is F'ed. Inspect the area where it would have touched and see if there is any visible damage but it could have crushed a trace in the board that you will never be able to see...

Cryptocoin Value and Market Trend Discussion

Exactly! My trend and discussion points have always been to buy on the low and hold.

Cryptocoin Value and Market Trend Discussion

Yeah all the haters in here...I check back often to see if anyone has changed their opinion...nope. If they would have bought some BTC or ETH when this thread was started they would all be $22,000 richer per coin with BTC and nearly $1500 per coin of ETH. Yet all the charts, all the forecasting...

    What are you playing?

Yeah the building mechanics are pretty good. However I think combat is below "okay" the AI for the enemies is so bad. You can always kite enemies into rocks, walls or trees where they will just stay stuck endlessly charging at you, while you kill them. Or if you can even get 1ft of elevation...

    What are you playing?

Been playing; Palworld, Enshrouded, Helldiver 2 and Sunkenlands. All in vatious states of Beta...all have fun elements to them.

First water cooled pc in two decades

Nice work! Love the hard copper tubing. Now you will have to water cool that GPU. Looks naked. Especially since the GPU makes way more heat than the CPU.
