[Case Gallery] Aqua PC

Specs:
Celeron 700MHz
128MB PC133 ram
2GB hard disk drive
Diamond Viper 550
85 L aquarium
5 Guppies
10 Neon tetra

Mods:
Revised passive cooling on motherboard and graphics card. Passive cooled memory. Removed unnecessary sockets and I/O ports. applied watertight seal using lacquer and epoxy

not exactly the prettiest way exucuted, but very funtional and original 9/10 from me
 
Is there fish in that setup :eek:
 
Computer in mineral oil = not entirely original

Removing excess IO slots = very original

But, why all the ancient components. I like it, but am not voting at this point. I would like to see a more modern PC.

Please visit my webpage, there is a video showing it is water. There were 5 gyppies and 10 neon tetra's in the tank.

At 14:45 The internal speaker goes off, It was the keboard dying. solution: cut the wire to the speaker :-) But the music keeps going.

I dont think the hardware is relevent, the work is what is relevent when it comes to modding.

Why waste fine hardware when I knew that the sealing would las no more than a day?
Besides my first attempt failed. It never booted, but at that time I didn't boot the machine before water was added :-(
 
amazing project i have to say...how did you water tight the cpu and socket? o and btw

I Love children, especially when they cry for then someone takes them away.

I used epoxy to fill the gap between the aluminum profile and the motherboard. I chose epoxy because of the relative high viscosity and its ability to harden in a few minuts.

Sorry, I didn't realize that it was cooled in water.

De-ionized?

Aren't you afraid of the effects of electrolisis and disimilar metal galvanic corrosion?

De-ionized water is quite an insulator actually. This means that you theoretically would have no issue running electrical components in it. But the problem is that electrolisis will take place rapidly and the de-ionized water will soon be full of ions; that is when the errors will start occuring.

didnt you guys read the blog? its just normal water you can tell by the fish swiming he just put several layers of lacquer to insolate all the hardware its a nice work but its a shame that the blue screen of death showd up

I didn't thoroughly read the blog, but I did skim through it. I did read about the lacquer, but didn't see mention of what type of water he was using.

I would of never thought I would see this. Because its submerged and worked with fish I give it a 8/10. :)
