TechConnect have got hold of what appears to be official imagery of a new 1GB variant of the Sapphire HD 4870 Toxic. It shows the card will feature a dual-slot, 3 heatpipe, Vapor-X Cooler, presumably using the same Vapor Chamber Technology (VCT), though one would hope that the heatpipes will not be in the way of the Crossfire fingers when the card hits retail. It can be seen on the product packaging that the card is factory overclocked and if the 512MB 4870 Toxic is anything to go by, the GPU will be clocked around 780Mhz with the memory around 4Ghz. There is yet no word on availabilty or pricing, but TechConnect expects it to arrive in the next few weeks.

As in their brand. Looks like it will be a nice card if pricing is right on it.

The heatpipe blocking one crossfire connector is not a big deal to me, but where's the display port? In any case, have a 3780 so I'm skipping the 47xx line.

Doesn't look too different to my new Sapphire 1gb 4870. Mine has a huge heatpipe cooler with a black shroud/blue PCB too. Runs very cool and quiet too, idles at 48-50c and peaks at 65c. Thats compared to my recently RMA'd 512 refererence 4870 which idled at 78-80 and peaked at 84-86.

Sapphire always come out with so many different version.

A GTX-260 Core 216 can pwn this sucker any time any day. I wonder why all these 4870 kept coming out to be owned. That's stupid in my opinion.

Tell me about it

OK guys, he is obviously a troll. Just stop feeding him.

i have 4870 with 1g but not toxic and it is come with same heat sink and it is stable at 800/1000

this cards out already but has 512mb
it is one of the best 4870s but isnt exactly cheap

the HIS ICEQ is a nice cooler too

this and the ICE Q are the 2 best 4870s

they need to stop making 4870s because everyone is fed up with them and getting gtx 260s

in crossfire the 4870 is good but the single gtx just owns a single 4970 it for a little more cash

Weird, the Sapphire toxic cards are the cheapest compared to the others here in the US.

Are those heatpipes larger than normal? What size is the standard heatpipe for a GPU anyway? Just curious if they are the same as a CPU heatsink.

I better replace my 4850 with this 4870 toxic hhehehhe

Whoa talk about a thread back from the dead...

This card has been out for awhile now, honestly, it's probably not worth you changing out the card.
Not without an overclock, more ram, use of dx10 and/or a larger resolution.
