Microsoft made public today, the first release candidate of Internet Explorer 8. Internet Explorer 8 RC 1, build number 8.0.06001.18372 is the latest version of the familiar web browser that is said to be faster, better and more secure than its predecessors. This release is compatible with both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows XP, Vista, Server 2003 and Server 2008. There is still no official release for Windows 7. For more information, please read the release notes.

I thought IE 8 was already out.
 
Using it now on Vista 64. Feels alot quicker. :)
 
Try Google Chrome.
 
Opera rocks full stop. I've tried IE8, doesn't do it for me. All the nifty gadgets that only work with certain websites and in certain circumstances, its pretty much only a speed upgrade with extra trimmings which I personally don't need.

Internet Explorer 9? That's doubtful, if IE 8 really isn't even out. I say the first.
 
I might just wait for windows 7 before i try it. My firefox is fast anyhow.
 
Im with u mon heard its better than 7 but ill wait and see.
 
i run a split drive in this so i have one os for my shows and a partition to f#@! with.

the other partition is running windows 7 beta and it came with the beta IE8

i like chrome but there is still quirks to it when downloading. but i can run 7 without looking at the screen

ill have it in this in a few minutes just to check it out

i hope they dont take that long to release the final of vista sp 2- ie8's been out since june in beta

I really wish they'd stop shipping IE with Windows. Can't they give you a quick option when you install windows (or when you first set it up - for the people that get their computers/laptops pre-built):

"Which internet browser would you like to install?

Microsoft IE8
Firefox 3
Opera

etc
etc
etc"

I installed Firefox on my friend's laptop when I cleaned it up for him. He was like "where's Internet Explorer?"
"I installed Firefox instead. It's better."
"Oh ... what does it do."
"It does the same as IE but it's a bit faster and more secure. And it blocks ads too."
"How does it work?"
"Just the same as IE."
"Oh, ok."

A week later I saw he was back using IE. He didn't like that it was different. :banghead:

If people were given a choice from the beginning they might realise there are other options out there.
 
well when i tried the beta back in august, the first thing i noticed was it had displaced all the plugins like java and adobe.

just checked they are there and working- checked for any new stuff in windows options

and there is a few but nothing earth shattering here. the webslices are a bit boring,

we need one for tpu i think, but thats my opinion:rockout:

there must be something wrong though, they havent issued a bugfix for it yet :laugh:

should they also ask you "Would you like to install Microsoft Windows or something else like linux" before installing Windows??
Seriously, it's THEIR product.

and in case you don't know, you can't really separate IE from Windows, lots of interfaces and functions rely on it.
 
You're silly if you think MS shouldn't pack a browser into their OS. And if they gave you a choice they would most likely have to get a license of some kind to use them.
 
Now if we could only get the corporate world to move beyond IE6.
 
I only use IE when only specific sites require IE (like Windows Update, or specific sites) , and I use FireFox for 4 Years now and never had a problem, but with IE, its slow, crashes alot, takes alot of CPU usage and just slows down the computer...

But its great that people actually says now its faster, less buggy, just smoother, but you cant pull me away from Firefox
 
Safari and Firefox does the Job
 
So this is Microsoft wanting to find a way to make legit and bootleg copies of windows go through their genuine advantage check = license and registration please.

More secure that's good but come on with their greedy licensing tactics.

I know they want to make money but when you have 15 million different kind of keys that only work with this or these discs, it seems like scam is written all over it.

my 2c but really it only worth 1.2 now in us

Agreed.

Been using IE here for ages now, and have been on IE8b since it's first release. I've never had any issues in regards to security (which is the biggest arguement supporters of FF, Opera, Safari and all other anti-IE users make), and 95% of the time, I'm online WITHOUT active AV on, or a firewall.

Amount of malware I vacuum off the nether regions of the internet? 0%

Why? I keep my friggin software updated, plain and simple.

Now . . . excuse me while I go download the IE8 RC1 so I can start sending in further feedback :toast:

How about putting up with a little harmless silliness? None of those comments were even being disparaging to IE -- I'm sure you've seen a lot worse.
 
IE - stopped using it in 2004 after lots of chrashes and getting free viruses and other crap. was my main browser from 99 to 04.
 
I'm having no problems with it. It's noticably faster than IE7.
