During the ongoing CeBIT event, Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) showcased the first motherboard seen based on AMD's upcoming 8-series chipset. The ECS A880GM-M is based on the RS880-derived AMD 880G chipset. The chipset succeeds the existing AMD 780G, in providing a high performance mainstream chipset with a strong integrated graphics processor. The RS880 chipset is known to feature an RV620 class IGP with an expanded feature-set. Learn more about the RS880 here.

The ECS A880GM-M targets the next-generation mainstream AMD motherboard segment that features support for DDR3 memory. AMD as we know, is releasing an entire range of quad-core, triple-core and dual-core CPU lineup that is based on the DDR3-supportive AM3 socket package. By mid-2010 one can expect DDR3 supportive AMD processors that are backwards compatible with DDR2-supportive AM2+/AM2 motherboards, in any given value thru mainstream price-point. A880GM-M is based on the micro-ATX form factor. Its release will be in-sync with AMD's release of the chipset, which as older reports suggest, is sometime in H2 2009.

This looks like one of the Best boards that I have seen that have come from ECS.

Love the board layout.

yea, agreed.

But, am i blind or there is no PCI slots on that board? m-ATX usually have at least one, is this a new trend to get of PCI?

I agree as well. This would be a great mobo for a lan-party computer. Would probably be awsome for an HTPC too!

They pretty much already have this? The 710's pretty darn cheap and the duals come out I think this Q?

Either way good too see they are working on the 8 series chipset.

wish the IGP was based on the 4300series w/ 80shaders vs the 40 shaders of the 3300... it would give it a nice boost (and have hybrid crossfire support w/ a 4300 card!)

I want nvidia to reply with an integrated G92 :p

so what graphics will be integrated? given the 780 has what, "HD3200" graphics? from what i've heard, the 780 is plenty or hd video decoding and some mild games even, so a newer update on that is awesome news. an HTPC is the next build on my list, although probably a year or two from now that i actually get around to needing one bad enough to build it lol.

ok, i see it now. had to make my screen brighter to notice it, lol

yea, i'm wondering when nvidia will launch their 800 series chipsets for AMD and what integrated graphics will those boards have?

the 880a has already been announced and has the same as the 780a

hmm, havent heard anything about that and google search didnt turn up anything? Where did u hear that? Only thing i did hear was that they are rebranding 780a into 980a for AM3. Which is totally confusing, why call it 980a, there are no 900 series yet, should've called it something like 790a like they did with Intel + DDR3.
