MSI has rolled out two new portable PCs today, branch of the company's wide-ranging line of ECO Engine gaming laptops. The new G-series laptops dubbed GX623 and GX633 both provide a 15.4-inch display, ECO functionality with 5 different modes (Gaming mode, Movie mode, Presentation mode, Office mode, Turbo Drive mode), stylish looks, and backlit W/A/S/D keyboard buttons. The two machines recognise up to 4 GB of DDR2 RAM, up to half a terrabyte of storage and can utilize either a DVD writer or a Blu-Ray drive. What makes the two models different is the platform they are using. Model GX623 features the latest Intel Centrino 2 platform, which uses variety of Intel Core 2 Duo processors, Intel PM45 Express chipset, and mobile ATI Radeon HD4670 graphics with 512 MB DDR3 RAM. The second laptop, GX633 uses the newest AMD Turion X2 Ultra dual-core mobile processors, NVIDIA MCP77 chipset and NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M video with 512 MB DDR3 memory. Extra traits of the two laptops comprise two HD Audio speakers, wireless 802.11 b/g/n and optional Bluetooth module, 10/100/1000 Ethernet, 2x USB ports, D-Sub port, a 2 MP webcam and offer choices of 6-cell or 9-cell battery packs. Expect MSI GX623 and GX633 to arrive very soon.

what is the GT130M the equal of?

GT 120 = 9500 GT
GT 130 = 9600 GSO
GT 140 = 9600 GT

And since the mobile ones will just have M in the end, it's roughly the same.

Mobile versions are different.
GT130=9650GT (32 shaders, slower than desktop 9500GT, sometimes DDR2)
GT120=9600GT(same as above, but slower clock, maybe ddr2)

Both of them are 55nm i believe, but still are in the same league as slower than desktop 9500GT. Both get annihilated by a 4650.

I find it odd that they team up the AMD with an nVidia, instead of the ATI graphics.

i find it awkward that the GX633 which is supposed to be better than the 623, is actually worse in performance.....why would they give a mobile HD 4670 to the 623 but basically a 8600m to the 633. makes no sense. And i don't know the Turion cpu performance but if it's the same relation as athlon x2 is to c2d, that makes the CPU in the 623 also better than the 633. strange

the 623 is better all around

the 623 is better all around

lol doesn't make sense at all to me. Though i've never cared for laptops as everytime i go to shop for one they're always so unbalanced: great CPU, lots of ram, shitty GPU; shitty CPU, 2gb ram, great GPU. I wonder the price of these lappy's as i would consider the GX623. if the mobile HD 4670 is anything like the desktop variant, it will blow away the GX 633 performance wise with the GT 130m(9500GT). I'm seriously like blown away by the stupidity on the naming scheme matched up with hardware here.
