ASUS announced that it is ready to support the upcoming 32nm processor based on the LGA1366 socket and the Intel X58 chipset. This next-generation 32nm infrastructure, supporting six multi-cores, will deliver maximum performance to ASUS X58-based motherboards via a comprehensive BIOS upgrade. Chie-Wei Lin, General Manager of ASUS Motherboard Business said, "This new processor architecture accommodates up to six cores and significantly improves CPU performance. By enabling the architecture in our award-winning X58-based motherboards, we can deliver one of the fastest personal computing platforms in history and we are very excited about it."

ASUS' entire range of X58-based motherboards is ready for the new 32nm processor. For maximum CPU performance and advanced graphics processing enabled by the six cores, users simply need to update the BIOS of their existing X58-based motherboards.

+1, hi-five dude, were set for hexa core and any 32nm quads that come our way, i7 930 perhaps.

Can confirm that the P6T-Deluxe V2 with 704 BIOS is fine.

I knew I did a good thing by buying this P6T V2.

I wonder if this means Asrock boards are also going to be compatible soon if not already...considering it's a subsidiary of ASUS anyway...if so it'd be real good considering you can get the asrock x58 deluxe or extreme for pretty cheap and from reviews etc they seem to be excellent boards all around.

Now all I need is $1k for a Gulftown.

Only if you buy one straight away. There will be a full range of 32nm 6 core cpus starting from the around $300.

I thought it was said that all the 6core CPUs will be extreme editions which always means $999.

EDIT, maybe the Xeon server chips will be cheaper- that slipped my mind.

So do the workstation boards get left out?

This will be very interesting to see what the actual numbers on these ships are, now if we can only get software developers to start making multi thread apps to use all the power.

Eventually I can see INTEL releasing mainstream 6-core parts, they'll just want to milk it in the high end while AMD have nothing to counter with.

that's quick , damn technology moving fast

Yay! :D
I know that these will be expensive but I hope they ain't ridiculous. Now we just need the software to take full advantage...:(

Initial x58 i9's will be the $999 ones, then months later cheaper versions will appear, that's what I pieced together.
