well i prefer quality over FPS...as long as its over 30-50FPS all the time, then there is no lag, so you may as well get the nicer quality :D

yep, also think about the 18 months before the x850 and how great the x850 was compared to that

I upgraded from my 850xtpe to the 1800xt and the improvement was quite impressive and more than 3000 3D 2005 points. I actually beleive that when we look back in a few years time and landmark cards, whether it be for raw power or visual quality the 850 will be up there with the best of them, perhaps sat closely to the 9800 and not too far away from the 6800's.

just a question, is there any noticeable diferent in "games" between a x1800xt to a 7950?, you can't tell the diference between more than 45fps and more (for example 60fps)

I feel that the X1K series cards are truly amazing, AVIVO, and great gaming.

I just ran through a set of pictures for friends and videos of my son after birth on our TV in the living room courtesey of a 30' S-Video cable. I compressed the videos to send to my parents, in just a few minutes, so they could see. My camera can connect and be a high resolution webcam. GTA, NFS, HL2, CS:S, etc..... all at 16X6 all high resolution 1280X1024 no lag.

Mongo,
You aware your GPU is starving for a X2 4400+ can't feed it fast enough?

Faster CPU would allow 1000 points more in 3DM06.
But what can I do if people interpret my post as Conroe promotion...

i would think it aswell that x2 is a great cpu it isn't bottlenecking anything, wich cpu would give a 1000pts in 3dmarks besides a c2d?

Bah I never said it was bad thing to say, really... A Conroe is a great upgrade, but a 7950 is definately a powerful card no matter what AMD or INTEL, the difference it will make against most other GFX cards is quite interesting. If you add in a conroe on top, it may just get up to that insanely fast configs. But I would rather buy a X1950XTX and have a single card doing a good job, and would think about keeping that for long time.

And overclocking an AMD X2 4400+ to 2.8ghz would also be interesting, wouldn't you agree?

My last cpu was a 4200 Manchester x2 & 2.8Gig and with my 1800xt got 4992 points in 3D Mark 2006 but in 3D Mark 2005 got 9985, less than I get from the 4000+ @ 3 Gig which is why I sold the 4200 x2 for £75 more than I paid for it and bought this, I mostly game and what I have now at the moment is best suited to that but I am going Conroe in the new year and keeping my trusty 1800xt till DX10 + 3 months or it dies.
