Inno3D seems to be in a bit of a hurry to bag the title of "first to come out with a non-reference GeForce GTX 400 graphics card," and is working tirelessly to get there. The company is readying a new "non-reference" graphics card, put in quotes because for the most part it is in fact a reference design. Traditionally, NVIDIA disallows its board partners from designing their own non-reference graphics cards based on newly-launched high-end GPUs, with a few concessions made for designs with factory-fitted water-blocks, or minor cosmetic changes, apart from letting their own sticker design, box design, bundle, and to an extant, pricing.

Inno3D's concession comes in the form of two things: 1. an NVIDIA reference-design PCB, which is now green instead of black, and 2. looking at the pictures, possibly a different cooler shroud design, although internally the cooling assembly remains reference design. Inno3D may roll out graphics cards with reference NVIDIA clock speeds, and also those with higher clock speeds. As with every other GTX 470 made so far, Inno3D's card is based on the GF100 GPU, it is DirectX 11 compliant, packs 448 CUDA cores, and 1.25 GB (1280 MB) of GDDR5 memory across a 320-bit wide interface. It supports 3-way SLI. At this point, there is no word on when exactly the card comes out, or pricing.

The cooling looks even worse compared to the reference card .... I3D might be trying to achieve the highest idle/load temps on FERMI .... :shadedshu

Actually, they've made a custom heatsink with heatpipes, the GTX 470 doesn't have heatpipes...
It's also using thinner aluminium fins, much like most higher-end CPU coolers, rather than a chunk of solid metal. It could be better, or it could be worse, I guess we'll have to wait and see...
 
nope the GTX470 does have heatpipes under the sheath, its the same heatsink

No its not the same ... the reference cooler has five heatpipes ...this only has four ...

Ok, my bad on the heatpipes, but I guess it's still slightly different...
 
Why don't they just put an OC'd GTX470 on a 480 PCB & 480 cooler? That would cool the card much better.

Yeah ... i can see five heatpipes in the 3rd pic ... but the 4th pic shows only 4 :confused: ...

i didn't see that, so it has 4 of 5, why in the world would they do that though, it might cool worst but if that heatpipe on the bottom isn't there then it should have more airflow out the back, this could be a new revision for the heatsink

I like those palit ones, but I always hear people bitching about bios issues with them... though that seemed to be with the ati cards which they no longer make. Wonder how they cut 1.5 inches off the 470?

Palit wins the connectivity contest. Who told nVidia that people wanted mini-HDMI? Not only is it worthless, but manufacturers have to pay a licensing fee just to have the worthless thing on there!
