Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD9 Pictured

mine doesnt squeel

Have you tried the rampage and premium boards? Anyway thats fine if its just your opinion.

If you put into Google "squealing X58" you'll see just about every post related to Gigabyte boards and i know people personally who have RMAd because of squealing UD3/UD5 boards.

Too risky for me cos i hate noisy PCs.

I messed around with a PT6 and ran an Asus R2E GENE in one of my crunchers for months. Not a bad board, but the Gigabytes bios is just so much better, and it's rare that I ever have to hard reset due to overclocking with the Gigabyte boards. The same cannot be said with the Asus. I was constantly having to pull the battery in both of those boards.

I've never had a squealing problem with any of my Gigabyte boards.

So true, each "real" phase has two chokes. They're making buyers count number of phases by counting number of chokes. Also seemed to have switched to DrMOS.

LOL. I've owned nearly every Gigabyte x58 motherboard thats been available, and a total of 14 different x58 motherboards in total. I've tested them all extensively. The ONLY board that MAY be better than the Gigabyte UD5, Extreme and UD7 is the EVGA Classified, and that is debateable. All of them have been incredibly stable, and the build quality of Gigabytes x58 boards is simply unmatched.

I have no bias to any particular brand. I just found that Gigabyte is just better for the x58 platform, much like I found Asus to be the overall best with s775.

I've had the same experience as Paulie and I've even owned a classified. It gave me more control, but the gigabytes do 98% of what the classified can do without any of the strange quirks classifieds have with running some benchmarks like a turd. I have owned a R2E and I currently run a P6T6 WS Revolution. It's ok, but a Gigabyte UD4 I owned ages ago was so much better. As for "squealing x58" searches on google... You wouldn't believe me but that's luck of the draw, and if it bugs you RMA. If I could have a dollar for every time I've heard people complain about hardware and refuse to RMA I'd be at least $100 richer every month. I did that with my DFI x58 UT, and I got one that didn't squeal back in return. Whoa?! No surprise. I still have the board and it works perfectly. Hell the DFI is still a good bit better than most x58 boards, especially better than ASUS, but lacking support since x58 isn't a good market for that company.

Board looks great and every Gigabyte I have ever owned has been an ABSOLUTE LEGEND. I Have an ASUS P5W DH Deluxe right now and It's been a sore disappointment (And I've been through 3 of them)

I have customers STILL on Socket A AMD Gigabyte boards running strong almost 8 years later, and I cant wait for my NEXT Gigabyte Board.

I own the UD3 R and I can say from personal experience atleast for the x58 series gigabyte rocks.
Great bios, very stable board, you can overclock like hell, it won't even flinch. these boards can take a beating.
I love it.

I might even be tempted to buy this UD9, I really want to try it out.

I've built so many system with a gigabyte X58 none of them had some electrical noise or squealing.

gross. I hate boards with nothing but PCI-E slots.

Reviews are generally pretty good with all boards mentioned. I stay away from Gigabyte for several other reasons. Namely personal experience.

Wow, the color scheme they chose is just awesome. I'm usually not a fan of gigabyte, but looks like they have a winner with this board.

Looks like they really tried to map this one out carefully.

EDIT: LULZ, black and white photo = FAIL or just fooled me!

got to agree with ya there matey i like a board with at least one pci slot as i've still got my hauppauge win tv nova-t card, which still records digital tv in quite good quality
so i'd give this board a miss, unless theirs a better digital tv card out there
(waits for quotes about other pci express tv cards :D)

like it says though it's for the hardcore gamer probably with a shed load of cash and 5 gtx 480's

You wont see many color changes by companies like Gigabyte, Biostar, Asus or others. They are identified by their color schemes. Its marketing at its finest, dont have to know the name of the product just tell them what colors it is, someone will know.

um i own a crosshair III and ASUS is no stranger to RMA . plz dont troll lol

I hate boards that have anything other than PCIe slots. PCI is dead, time to move on. :)

And I want this board now, dammit. Anybody want to buy an X58-UD5? lol.

i dont use PCI.

Then what do you want on a board if not PCI and PCIe?

i think thats off topic. I just dislike boards like this. I find it useless. It adds coast for no added benifit. Fell free to contact me via PM for a more indepth explination but please bear in mind its my opinion on the board.

Feel free to post that explanation here.

How is it useless? All of these slots can take any PCIe device, with any length of connector. Seems MORE useful to me.

Imagine having several of those SLots filled with PCI E SSDs, 2 Sound cards or Professional Audio Devices Gigabyte Ethernet Boards or Wireless Lan adapters. My only biff with most boards like this is slot spacing- not all slots can be utilized due to video cards taking up 2 slots on a board.

Gigabyte = rubbish
For some reason i don't have any confidence in them even if their PCB is made of 1cm solid copper, packed with 100 phases and uses diamond made capacitors.

Your loss, Haven't heard anything but good on GB boards, Asus on other hand you fan forget that, and I'm not talking about the Net either, I'm talking about actual people around here.
