Prolimatech is out with a new high-end CPU air-cooler, the Super Mega. The pile of adjectives aside, this cooler is based on the design of its popular Megahalems dual fin-block tower design, except for a dash of copper fins sandwiched between aluminum fins. Measuring (L)130mm X (W)74mmX (H)158.7 mm, and weighing in at 945.3 g, the Super Mega uses six 6 mm thick nickel-plated copper heat pipes to convey heat to two independent aluminum-copper fin blocks, which make up the shape of a conventional tower cooler, but increase turbulence. The cooler can hold 120 mm and 140 mm fans on either sides, and supports all latest CPU sockets, including LGA1366, LGA1156, and LGA775. Prolimatech did not give out a price.

Is AMD still in the business? :)

Maybe they offer 2 versions...

I would like this better in black and copper. I do like the 140mm fan support :)

Really? "Super Mega" CPU cooler? How incredibly generic. The next version is going to be something like "Really Huge Awesome Ridiculous CPU Cooler!" Silly...

Is this going to be better than the CM V10? If yes, i'm gonna buy it.

I'm amazed they kept it under a KG...

Big = silent. Had zerotherm butterfly and it was awesome. This seems to be similar.

Looks the exactly the same as my Megahalems.

I guess the difference is?: (though the megahalems can hold two 120mm fans on each side, not sure about 140mm fans tho.)

EDIT: nvm, i see the difference. Still not worth it to upgrade from my current Megahalems.:)

From what I have seen so far those coolers look all like Transformers

I love my Mega Shadow, dropped my temps by 10°C from my days with the ZEROTherm Nirvana 120.
This won't have different cooling from it's predecessors IMO, just a new release for the sake of releasing. At least it keeps them in the public eye, which they deserve to be with the phenomenal performance.
I for one highly recommend it. The only HS of normal size that I've seen to beat the TRUE.:rockout:

For all those who don't know:
Super Mega = Megahalems + copper
Mega Shadow = Megahalems + nickel plating

That's one reason I've avoided them. Looking over at it through the side window and thinking about transformers all the time would really irritate me.

BTW, you buy an (~$10) AMD retention kit separate that make it fit AM2/AM2+ and AM3.

LMAO, Super Mega? Heck anybody can be in marketing these days.... I think i choose the wrong career

It's the V12 of CPU coolers...

play nice, or they'll take away your AMD radeon 5850

oh the irony ;)

Looks interesting. I am sure it will perform just like all the other top of the line coolers.
:toast:

I'm also surprised at this. Wouldn't something of this weight warp a motherboard over time? And the 945g is the base weight of the HS alone, if you include a fan it would definitely tip the 1kg mark.....GEEZ!!!!!!!!!!!

Make it direct touch, drop 5-10C

People still care about AMD, just because you don't doesn't mean others don't LOL.

Yeah you can get a kit, but it should include for AMD. Maybe AMDs just dont get as hot as Intel CPus and AMD doesnt need the kick ass cooling. Who knows.

Agreed.

If i didn't already have an i7, it would be an AMD X6. I don't understand why someone would think that no one cares about AMD anymore, they're still more then relevent in the CPU maker world.

And i do belive you will have to get a retention bracket for AMD sockets, it was the same way for my Megahalems.(on the box it's only labeled for support for LGA 1366, 775 and 1156 if i remember correctly).

For sure the sense of humour changes when crossing seas and oceans, please dont care to much! Relax!

But fact, and a strange fact is, on the box it says only intel.

no price? i highly doubt the performance of this unit over the megahelams will justify the increased price.
