For sure the sense of humour changes when crossing seas and oceans, please dont care to much! Relax!

It's hard to detect sarcasm on the interwebs.

And it wasn't directed at you, it was directed at Assimilator.(unless he to was using sarcasm, then it that case, nvm.)

Are you sure you're not being sarcastic about the sarcasm? :)

OT - if this is an improvement over the Meglahelms (or how ever you spell it), it's going to be about the closest you'll get to H2O cooling.

*sigh* I should've known better to make a joke about AMD CPUs on the most pro-AMD forum on the intarwebs. :p

I was just trying to point out that a lot of high-end manufacturers act as if AMD CPUs don't exist... the original TRUE had a crappy mounting system for AMD that required you to buy a backplate, and you have to pay extra to get ANY AMD mounting hardware at all for this Super Mega OMGWTFBBQ.

I'd be much more satisfied if, instead of blinging out an existing product with copper, Prolimatech were able to bring a "universal" CPU cooler mount to market.

Oh and Animalpak, I assume you're talking custom water... because the Thermalright Venomous-X (another daft name) beats the Corsair H-50 at cooling.

From what I have seen so far those coolers look all like Transformers

at first glance,I thought that the logo on the box was really from Transformers!

anyway, back on topic:As far as i know,I never saw Prolimatech make AMD coolers.

Maybe it's because AMD doesn't require extreme cooling when you overclock on air , for the usual 3.6-4 ghz overclock you hardly need megahelms or any exotic cooling , not that you would need it on the lower intel cpu's but some core i7 (overclocked ) get hot like hell and needs some extreme air cooling.
Also even in the good days of AMD when Intel had nothing to beat those athlons ( pentium 4 era or netburst ) they had a lower market share , so it's understandable why prolimatech makes the cpu cooler for the majority and leaves as an option an adaptor for the minority.

I'm also surprised at this. Wouldn't something of this weight warp a motherboard over time? And the 945g is the base weight of the HS alone, if you include a fan it would definitely tip the 1kg mark.....GEEZ!!!!!!!!!!!

That's what the backplate is for... heh. My motherboards are always bent to some degree... the board in my main rig is, so is the board in my server with the Celeron 430... and lot of my video cards were bent too. The only reason my 8800gts isn't bent is cause I'm still using the stock cooler and it has like 15 places for the pcb to screw into.

Yeah, I've never seen a processor get as hot as these i7s do. My Arctic Freezer 64 Pro, which I bought for $20 years ago, has done a fine job cooling any CPU I've ever put it under... Athlon 64 x2 5200, Phenom 9500, 2GHz Sempron LE, 7750 BE, and this current Athlon II x2 240.

Well when you consider that the TRUE Copper weighs something like 1.9kg alone, this cooler doesn't seem that heavy...

That's one of the reasons why I like Xigmatek coolers. When they first came around, I remember a lot of people here saying that they were suprisingly light for thier size and performance..

agreed on that. the 92mm version was so light, it was the only one i even considered for my mATX LAN machine i had at that time.

I think if Thermalright and Prolimatech supported AMD out of the box, they would see better sells on the AMD side. The current Phenom II and Thubans actually clock further on better cooling at the same voltage, so these better air coolers would help.

Agreed.

If i didn't already have an i7, it would be an AMD X6. I don't understand why someone would think that no one cares about AMD anymore, they're still more then relevent in the CPU maker world.

And i do belive you will have to get a retention bracket for AMD sockets, it was the same way for my Megahalems.(on the box it's only labeled for support for LGA 1366, 775 and 1156 if i remember correctly).

or you can have both :D

This cooler looks promising, I have the current Mega and I don't regret buying it one bit, it performs amazingly well!

So I'm assuming it's a Megahalems with copper fins as well as the aluminium. This will be kicka** and I should know because the Megahalems was epic. I can see they will make this way more expensive than the standard Megahalems due to the copper.

For the damned price they want for these things they better damn well make coffee in the morning or come with a complete kit for any socket... making a separate socket kit is just extortionate gauging and a fucken :nutkick: to us people who keep them in business

Doesn't look like it's going to be a very significant difference over the there current Mega. They only slightly upped it to be better over there current Megahalems.

The cooler can hold 120 mm and 140 mm fans on either sides, and supports all latest CPU sockets, including LGA1366, LGA1156, and LGA775. Prolimatech did not give out a price.

Is LGA775 one of the latest sockets? :nutkick:

I'll wait for the "Super Giga" cooler. I hear it's going to be 1000x better.

@Chicken : Yes, there are a lot of 775s still around.
