So when is the HD6970 gonna be released?

On December 12th IIRC. They were supposed to launch on the November 22nd, but a delay "purportedly" caused by Texas Instrument hardware shortage delayed until December 12th.

I love how both nV and AMD are going with DRMOS, but I find the whole story about those components causing a delay as nothing but LIES!!!(TI is far from the only DRMOS OEM).

All of AMD's new cards use these parts. If there was a real shortage, there'd be no 6780/6850's, either. Oh, and GTX580 too.

I still think it's a mix of things that possibly could include limited amounts of the specific DRMOS chips from texas instruments due to them being divided between other lines although i don't know if nvidia uses the same one from texas instruments or not, i really think yield is probably the major issue due to the changes in architecture but of course i don't have a clue I'm just guessing

Whatever the reason I'm sure AMD has no reason to be 100% honest about it as the more they say the more likely it could be to lead to negative press.

The reason is so they can release a card that is slightly faster than the 580. If it is made faster or slower than that, this means they make less money.
