AMD plans to cut all the Radeon X1300 series, re-nominating RV516/RV505 to Radeon X1550, and overclocking them. Since the core is fabricated with 80nm process by TSMC, AMD confirmed that the core can be overclocked to 600MHz without changing the core voltage. Manufacturers are also approved to sell special overclocked Radeon X1550 version, which may be running at 700MHz with additional voltage and improved heat-sink. ATI Radeon X1550 256MB has the same price as Radeon X1300 - $65; while the special over-clocked edition costs $69. Its rival would be NVIDIA's GeForce 7300GS 256MB. Radeon X1550 has a 25% lead to GeForce 7300GS, and the boost is even higher for the special edition at 45%.

god dammit amd...quit screwing with the naming. more confusion for customers and more screwing people over...

at least they overclocked it!

Yup.....
Now the naming is simply ridiculous.
Graphic Cards used to be number by the core....
Now its simply a big mess.
For god sake, whats the difference between X1300 XT and X1600 Pro-_-

Is this the first Graphics Card from ATI to officially be allowed to be overclocked by the manufacturer? (AMDATI)

exactly like the 9550 for the x1 series :D

its friggin retarded. the 9550's sucked but were cheap. i just hope they dont limit the cards with an uber low memory clock.

im confused. you can get a graphics card that hits 600mhz at core voltage for 69 bucks!?!?

what about memory speed? i mean, you cant get a new x1900 at 600mhz for anywhere close to that price. someone explain. and does this mean that if you already own a x1300 youve got a card that will do these speeds?

well the x1550 series has less pipes Easy Rhino so that will negate most of the 600mhz i mean it is like having a MX4000 @ 600mhz it is still a 2pp card so performance is low

I agree with everyone else that says AMD doesn't know how to manage a brand successfully. They are screwing up customer "goodwill" through brand and naming confusion.

I've just decided to sell AMD stock, after their truely poor show on the ATI takeover... PLUS the article about Core2D prices dropping next quarter.

Poor AMD. Rest in Peace.
