Uh "mx" didnt mean they lacked programmable shaders, not at all. Geforce 3 introduced programmable shaders, and its been with every geforce card ever since, no exceptions and regardless of suffix.

Anyway, geforce Ti4200 was indeed a legendary card, along with the radeon 9500/9700 series. That generation was one of the best gpu gen's if i should say so myself.

Seems weird to think that after all these years, I could again have an nVidia Ti series card with an AMD FX processor. I remember one of my older machines with an AMD FX-55 and TI-4800 AGP 8x.

Sad we can't have a good nVidia chipset to complement, but I'm sure nVidia won't mind re-re-branding the 780a chipset for us...

They already did, the 980a. I'm using it right now. Pirifirm's Speccy identifies it as a 780a.

That's why we'll need a 1080a. But wait! Nvidia doesn't like adding extra numbers, or we'd have an 12800GTX right now instead of a GTX580. So, I guess they'll call it the a18 instead? Or the a28, perhaps, seeing as we had no Geforce GTX1** cards.

I've owned at least four TI cards to date. Two from GF3 series and two from GF4 series.

GF3:
PNY GeForce3 TI500
ASUS GeForce3 TI500

GF4:
Jaton 3DForce4 Ti4200
BFG Tech GeForce4 TI4600

The ASUS GeForce3 TI500 was by far the most memorable part. It had software to monitor voltages of VRAM and other components via ASUS SmartDoctor and this was in 2001/2002. The fan died within few months though.

Great to see awesome branding resurrected.

It doesn't make sense for them to be bringing back the Ti for a lower high end board. Shouldn't NV have done this for the 580/etc? Unless they don't think those are worthy of the title. But still from the last info I saw on the GF114, its just an improved 104. Higher clock speed but it didn't seem like a night and day difference from the GF104 its based on.

Not that I'm against the Ti, just hope NV uses it right and puts it only on boards worthy of it.

If this card uses 1x6pin or 2x6pin and manages to use roughly the same amount of power as a 1GB GTX 460 it would be a great seller. Not only could this run on something like a 500w psu, it will be available for the regulars in the PC market, which make up a large bulk. Good move Nvidia Now we have to see the price and performance figures!!

I had a MX420, a PCI one even (less VRAM bandwidth than AGP version). Used it in my server and later on sold it on eBay for more than I paid. MX4xx GPU's had their place, considering back in 2002 when there were still tons of 3Dfx cards in circulation, a MX4xx GPU was a cheap way for those people with such hardware to get the latests API support for not too much cash, albeit with pretty poor performance at high-res.
