Although you could already get online whilst travelling using EVDO or UMTS cards, Autonet Mobile has become the first ISP solely intended for vehicles. For $50 a month, the company will allow you to connect to the internet on 95% of roads in the United States. However, before you do that you will have to pay $399 for their in-car wireless networking unit, which possibly uses Verizon's EVDO networking. So far no information on the speed or any monthly allowance is available, but Autonet Mobile will have to do its best to establish a strong foothold before other ISPs start offering a similar service if it wants to be successful.

I dont give it even that long. This is stupid. 400 bucks for a router? You can get a laptop for that much. Idiotic

Well an individual UMTS card only costs about $100 I expect, so this would only be worth it if you had four laptops connecting to the internet in your car at once... which is steep. But then again, four different UMTS cards would probably require you to pay for four different connections, so in the long run it might be cheaper this way if you have a few people connecting to the internet in your car. Which probably doesn't happen much. Might be good for a caravan?

Internet anywhere; Is there anything better??

but internet is already everywhere...

Yeah like those little cards you put into your laptop and get the internet... OMG ADVANCED?
