Rumors? :wtf: I thought it was pretty much common knowledge that the man was dying of recurring pancreatic cancer.

My two cents: I wonder if Apple's recent extreme litigious stance with the rest of the industry has something to do with the fact that they know their future innovation isn't going to be quite what it used to be...

Jobs was to Apple as the Pope is to Catholics. This is big news no matter how you look at it. Some will say it will make no difference but they ether have very short memories or were to young to know what happen the last time Jobs stepped down.

See the video I posted above? If you remember that then you also remember what happen soon after.

Yep, but it's even more important than that, one could argue: the Pope is replaceable -- as long as one exists, everything is fine. Jobs is different.

And I like to think that those clones had something to do paving the way for Jobs to be able to do what he did in the late 90's -- they sure brought talk of the ecosystem back into the forefront. I loved them, even bought a PowerWave myself. Best "Mac" I ever had. :P

Sad to see such a titan go, but if his health is going down the crapper then I don't blame the guy. Thanks for giving us what you've given us Mr Jobs.

This is true. Popes are replaced all the time and thats not a jab at the Catholics in anyway. This was Job's baby. Maybe comparing Jobs to Lucas and Star Wars was more appropriate. Honestly I'm sad to see the man go in some ways. In others I'm glad after dealing with the way he made his computers more of replaceable utilities then workable tools.

Well, that's not an accurate comparison, either. Lucas stayed around, and Star Wars turned to shit because of it.

 Was thinking the same thing! The first trilogy was and will remain the best.

Ok W1zz leaving TPU then?

I somehow miss a poll option... "Steve Jobs is a B**tard."
No flaming, just my personal opinion on that guy.

So how long you known Jobs? I mean you must have spent a lot of personal time with him to have formed an opinion the man is a bastard right? I mean you wouldn't form an opinion on someone based off hearsay would ya? Thats not very "indigo" of you if you did.

In his case, i would. Greedy people are rarely good.
I like Steve Wozniak tho, he seems like a great guy;)

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.” - Steve Jobs

Time to celebrate!:toast:

Price drop anyone?

I like the poll choice relating Steve Jobs to Willy Wonka. Jobs, 1997-2011 was a CEO mega-genius. He didn't need market testing or any crap like that. He knew what people wanted and what they would buy. CEO's like him don't come around very often at all, he is not replaceable. Until he dies, I don't see Apple changing at all.

The world would collapse if everyone did that.

Apple is nothing anymore but a patent troll company that uses Foxconn to make cheap shit in concentration camp style labor and them mark it up hugely. I hope Steve Jobs dies a painful death for the continued support of such vile labor practices.

He is now the head of the board of directors, rumors say he supposedly only has 3 months left, "they" were saying that a year ago though. I think that for sure his health was the reason he resigned.

While I agree, not to defend foxconn, but there is no one else big enough to keep up with the demand for the apple products.

No thats the ways its done. Work for yourself. Not for anyone else.

Because there are so many people dreaming about building your tech in Asia, cleaning up after your children in school or deliviering your mail or making your burgers at McDonalds. The world is a pyramid with hard working poor peasants at the bottom, people like you somewhere in the middle and rich folk up top. That is how it is done.

They are not my problem. Its Darwins rule. I mean I didn't make the game. I just play it.

I know about Jobs being like Willy Wonka only because I happen to know about Steve Jobs. Other people, mainstream, just buy Apple because having an Apple product is a status symbol in my country (it might not be for others). And buying something to achieve a status symbol is just... not really right... :ohwell:

So no, it's not the Willy Wonka factor here which is at play. At least in my country it's just the brand name... irrespective of who's behind it.

BTW, please remember we're on TPU and not on some random forum so let's keep the discussion civil, OK?

Everyone is. I just admit it.
No, definetly not!
Thats a psychological disorder after ICD 10, F60.8.
Your ego is small in reality, and your try to live with that, by overcompensating... well that definetly fits your doings.;)
