Battlefield 3 Interview With Producer Patrick Liu: maps, betas and jets

Just wait a week to purchase the game after release and let the gamedevs release the first patch.
Almost everything will be ironed out, and there will be no need to nerdrage on forms.

People are such giant babies these days. The instant something doesn't go their way, they log onto the internet and throw a tantrum.

I believe that the biggest bugs will be ironed out in the full release, but obviously there can be some minor problems, that they need to fix. That's what patches are made for. This beta was an 1 month old build anyway. DICE mainly wanted to test the servers more than actual game glitches, which they can probably handle themselves. And why is everybody whining? You had 10+ days, where you could play the game for free, to get to know some of the core mechanics, like gun-recoil and player movement and such.

I think your points about waiting and seeing what the finished product will be like are valid and reasonable. However, I think a general attack on people who feel confident that the finished product will be fine is unwarranted and not very nice.

And to reverse your argument, do you have inside knowledge that the finished product is gonna be a bug-ridden piece of crap? No? I didn't think so.

you dont need any inside knowledge to know that the release will be bug filled if you played any of the other BF franchise games.

Yes you do. You must never assume that the future is gonna be like the past, you can only take it as a guide.

There will be bugs. Some people won't care, some people will scream bloody murder. The screamers make a large presence on the internet. So, yes there will be bugs and the screamers will make it well known.

well good sir, you have nailed it on the head. yes, a guide, and past history in guiding me to know there will be bugs from alpha, beta, and what we played that was marketed as an "open beta", (release product, i dont believe the PR hype) for months to come. remember BC2 beta? and launch? i only played release for bf2 and bf2142, but bugs will be a long drawn out proccess with dice.

I guess our battlefield 3 talk will have to resume here for now :(

So retail is 25th or 28th?

25th for North America (you lucky bastards), and 28th for the rest of the world, like here in Europe. Game-releases usually go by the pattern, that North America gets the game on Tuesday, and Europe and the rest get the game on Friday. Which in this case doesn't even make sense, since DICE is in Sweden.

Well I am waiting, I see them making major changes from the alpha and beta.
