You know what, we won't even go through the drill of expressing surprise that a new major version of Firefox is released on a nearly-monthly basis. Mozilla released Firefox 8.0, about 7 months after it released Firefox 4.0. And they look similar, except that the new one looks more polished. Granted, drastic UI changes can hit users' learning curve and preferences. The new UI sports essentially the same layout as its predecessors since version 4.0, but the elements look designed better, fused into the theme. It's the under-the-hood changes that are counting. Mozilla would never pack so many background changes to the monthly updates of Firefox 3.

DOWNLOAD: Mozilla Firefox 8.0

With this release, Mozilla Firefox has the following changes over the previous generation:
  • Add-ons installed by third party programs are now disabled by default
  • Added a one-time add-on selection dialog to manage previously installed add-ons
  • Added Twitter to the search bar for select locales. Additional locale support will be added in the future
  • Added a preference to load tabs on demand, improving start-up time when windows are restored
  • Improved performance and memory handling when using audio and video elements
  • Added CORS support for cross-domain textures in WebGL
  • Added support for HTML5 context menus
  • Added support for insertAdjacentHTML
  • Improved CSS hyphen support for many languages
  • Improved WebSocket support
  • Fixed several stability issues
  • Fixed several security issues

Perhaps I'm just odd- but I REALLY REALLY HATE how they have removed the windows title bar - The whole top of the program is now one giant border-less amorphous grey blob and it looks forking horrible.

It's just following what the web-pages are doing, have you seen the new Gmail? They call it 'modern', It doesn't look modern, just worse then the old one

Hint to all these new UI's coming out

Buttons have Edges's not only so you can tell where they are, but also because it looks better

Why can't you wait for tomorrow to release, its firefox's and my birthday then

I don't seem to have that issue. Not sure whether I've turned it off, or whether it's a 7 only thing.

Agreed. New Gmail looks amateurish.

I just installed and I seen no difference in the looks

for the love of god! they need to stop updating new releases and fix the older and bigger bugs first!!!!!:slap:

I LOL'd at that.
Everyone is still trying for a good compromise between overly ostentatious and overly minimalistic. One of these days they may find it ... or not.

i want to switch to firefox but i reallllly like my new tab page in chrome where it shows my 8 most visited webpages and they are just a click away.

does anyone know of a plug-in that does this but actually looks natural, i've seen a couple but they look like crap.

I like it . Looks good and works better IMHO .

It's already the 9th in this half, so have a great day.

See?

i never used firefox, i never liked it. Chrome or IE all the way lol.

LOL Inter net Exploder sucks ! And Chrome ? Man talk about a waste of time ! :banghead:

haha that reminds me of google searching "do a barrel roll"

Thanks bta, I've just installed the latest meh update to Firefox... and it looks just like Firefox 7.

I think it looks crisper and much cleaner . Hmm ...

I like all of the updates- I just dont like how fast they get rolled out. Normally, I like constant updates for software but not in the case with my browser

I use RoboForm and it constantly breaks because of this. good thing I dont use addons anymore or I would really be annoyed

im sorry but i have no need for firefox, its slow and has issues. Chrome hasn't given me one issue, and i really do like those 8 recently visited tabs, i use them all the time. it also looks cleaner. Everything is how I like it.

The only, and ONLY thing i have ever found a good use of firefox for are its plugins, like ones for downloading multiple files links, like 40+ at once.

Otherwise chrome is much faster, and IE doesn't have any issues with certain sites.

And that is why I swapped to opera when FF4 came out.

I cant stand a bad gui. Every time I look around, programs and websites I use are changing their gui and making it awful. :banghead:

Huh, I'm on the bleeding-edge alpha, and mine still looks like version 4.

I hope they fixed the 'FireFox plugin Canister has Crashed" issue and the "FireFox is already running but not responding you may have to close FireFox or Restart your Computer" Issue....I could go on but I think I'll just check it out...

why is it everytime I open firefox it's a new version?

Is it just me or is text a bit clearer, the last update made my default font change slightly i am sure.
