MW3 Heist: Will The DRM Help? (Updated)

lawl
>cracked servers > No need for this
everything is 100% completely fking useless when it comes to DRM

Fixed that for you. DRM is only a barrier, it's almost always broken, no matter what is used.

Wow! I've been living in Paris for 16 months and have only just gotten back to Australia about 6 weeks ago for a holiday, crazy news that this went on inside Paris!

Just a small error in the news post qubit, it is spelled "Créteil", the accent aint so important but you had 'ail' at the end :)

Why steal 6000 copies of MW3 anyway? surely there must be shit a LOT more valuable to steal, and video games much better on that note.

This smells like a publicity stunt......but typical MW type gameplay......too bad the truck drivers didn't have their flak jackets, and no one was 250 yards away that could have got a headshot with a pistol.

damn...cant even go to a gamestop without ending up like a drug deal lol. just sad and messed up. whats next? robbing safeway trucks?

They stole $60 from me when I bought MW3 and all I got was a 4 year old game and a blurry mess of graphics. No sympathy for a company who slaps a new name on the same old crap and spends the rest of their dev time drumming up ads and headsets with call of duty on em.

Yes I'm still mad about how bad this game is...

so i'm speechless;they better heist expensive pc components than games;in my opinion all games they stole are useless if every one had a unique barcode which was scanned previously, based on this blacklisting the keys takes a few minutes... but the games can be sold if they include a cd with a crack which already exist...

What? You actually believed it was going to be any different this time around?

Thanks W, fixed! :toast:

Yes, why steal MW3 and what incredible timing. Yes,it does smell a bit like a publicity stunt, as people are saying, doesn't it? But if it was, wouldn't it be illegal?

I got the feeling its another of these crazy stories about just released games to promote sales, where people kill, rob each other, and sell livers to get them.
This one also, as some said, may prevent people from buying used games on ebay or cd key sites at discount. You can buy a legit cdkey of MW3 and BF3 for just 25$ really, but neither worth the time that will be wasted on this.

TPU's own frenchman, at your service :respect:

The more I think about it the more I say to myself "why"? Publicity perhaps... to try and flog off as many copies as they can while they still work, perhaps.... I'm just constantly asking myself why on earth they didn't plan to steal something better.

I'm not familiar with French arms control laws, but is that easy to get some teargas there ? I smell a conspiracy too.

LOL, I don't know if anyone noticed yet, but last Saturday was the 5th of November...

...or are you all implying it's just coincidence???

Interesting theory. On prob though, the bastards were French.

No coincidence,All the mob or robbers need is an inside guy,Take Russian mobs for instance,They pay off the truck drivers ,Then the cops no report on which shipment lot is stolen ,The mob sells them at a cheap price ,make a few quick bucks repeat process.Hell if you go back i US/Canadian mob history they used to hi-jack stolen electronic goods,Tv/VCR/cassette tape player......Look up the Famous Ed`s story from the early eighties.Last case i can remember is Scott Goodyear in 200-2001 had his entire Panther Indy car transport and trailer stolen ,In it was what he would have drove in the Indy500 that year....It happens but not always in the news. They still to this day do not know who stole the car,Most cops believe it was some Mexican Mob boss that had a love for racing.....They also never found the Transport or the trailer.

And no I think the Russian mob in France ,You do realize the best selling thing they steal is Es Cargo (snail eggs)right. So please do not blame ALL french like that. Why you think there is a strict gun law,The only GUN a French likes to let off is his third eye trouser monkey..Make Orgy ,Not War motto .....

It's not easy at all to get your hands on that kind of gear, at least from my Parisian experiences. kickass pepper spray is about the best you can hope for as a civvy. having said that it, is all about who you know. I personally know at least a half dozen french cops, and I reckon if a cop in the right area/department was a good enough mate to you, a couple of cans of tear gas could easily go missing.... not to mention if you knew anyone involved in any way with the truck itself or it's company to know its schedule/payload etc...

yeah ahahahah, very much doubt it's anything to do with Guy Fawkes Day

See, here is the difference between CoD and BF players.

CoD players stage an elaborate mission to steal a truck and all the copies using tear gas and a car...this forces them to take the risk of going in on foot.

BF players say screw the car and get caught trying to hijack a tank or attack chopper from a nearby military base.

Tank vs delivery truck...I think we know who will crap their pants first ;D.

Can't drive a tank with a 360 controller :ohwell:

You mean there are BF players still on console? ;)

Course, kinda tough to drive with a mouse too...hence why they'd get caught trying to swipe it!

"I can't fly the chopper, theres no USB port for my mouse!!!"

I love this translation, Faces hidden, they sprinkle the two delivery men with tear gas, Sprinkle with tear gas, lmao.
