Ivy Bridge Early Sneak Performance Peek: Any Faster Than Sandy Bridge?

If Intel pulls an AMD and lets me down with this, I am going to nerdrage like no other. It's not like I'm shooting for the moon. I think my expectations are reasonable. I thought my expectations for BD were reasonable too though, so we'll see.

all they have to beat is their previous 2 generations of products, I would think they would go for energy efficiency and GPU and start stealing back the small market AMD got in laptops with LLano

here is the issue guys, Ivy Bridge is a die shrink of Sandy Bridge, what do you expect? you wont be getting the change that occurred from Bloomfield/clarkdale to Sandy Bridge, its just not in the plan ATM.

What you will get is slight improvements in power, some OC, and GPU, which are more than enough, then maybe some clock per clock improvement if they are able to squeeze them in there.

Exactly. I just don't understand why people are expecting any more than that. Intel never even hinted that this would bring huge performance increases.

Are the boards specifically for Ivy going to be significantly different than say SB-E ones? I understand the socket remains the same.

We know that they are going to have different chipsets Z77 Z75 H77 , but honestly I haven't seen anything about their differences with current Sandy Bridge other than USB 3.0 native support

It's so hard to decide whether and when to upgrade
But at least my wife won't throw my balls in a meat grinder if I decide to wait with this as I am probably getting new Radeon as well, and that'd be too much of an instant money sink.
