Intel expects to introduce its high-end Core 2 Extreme branding to notebooks in Q3'2007 according to the latest roadmap. The upcoming Core 2 Extreme X7800 uses the same Merom core used by the Core 2 Duo mobile family of processors. Intel's Core 2 Extreme X7800 will arrive clocked at 2.6GHz with 800MHz FSB and 4MB of L2 cache like the rest of the Core 2 Duo family. Intel technologies such as VT, EIST, EM64T and XD/NX bit are also supported, though Intel has removed support for Intel Dynamic Acceleration. The Core 2 Extreme X7800 for mobile will remain at the top of Intel's chain of mobile processors until the upcoming Core 2 Extreme X7900(2.8GHz 4MB L2) dethrones it in Q4'2007. The price of Core 2 Duo Extreme X7800 for notebooks in Q3'2007 is expected to be $795 per-unit in 1,000-unit quantities.

Whats the point for having a Core 2 Extreme in a laptop?
So that it will suck out the battery faster?

Well, it's always a blancing act... I'm surprised "though Intel has removed support for Intel Dynamic Acceleration." part - I thought that was a power saving feature?

Hope people arent too attached to their Crotches when this thing rolls out.

Its perfect if you need to iron your pants while still wearing them. I suppose in terms of battery life if you have enough money to buy that laptop you have enough money to buy a couple batteries to swap :P

 why dont they just bring out a HUGE battery, with a free pc attached?

hey its a c2d maybe it wont be so bad in the bat life part?

well it all depends on what you're talking about, under load or basically idle. i know my laptop under load probably won't last an hour and if you've got a cpu like that you have to have a gpu to match. between those two playing a game running your laptop at full blast there's no way you're getting to get good battery life, that's true for all laptops, at least the ones with decent parts. it'll get good battery life, im guessing. what's dynamic acceleration? is that where the cpu underclocks itself to save power?

ps. next thing intel's going to do to laptops....quad core

dual quad core cpus bet that would last even shorter than the dells running p4ee

haha defiantly, youd get to the welcome screen and it'd die

Isn't that Intel Speedstep (sorry if I'm wrong, but I think that's what its called on my desktop comp)

it would post and poof there goes the bat

haha youd need a car batt to get it to a point where you could open something

that's what i thought. but since it wasn't called that i really didn't know, and on my dad's IBM centrino it's called speedstep also
