XFX became the first AMD add-in board (AIB) partner to launch a graphics card based on AMD's new Radeon HD 7970 GPU, which features an in-house design. Other graphics cards launched today stick to AMD reference design. Called the XFX R7970 Double Dissipation, the card makes use of AMD reference PCB design (black color) with its own factory-overclocked speeds, but an in-house dual-fan cooling assembly. The cooler uses a large aluminum fin array to which heat from the GPU, memory, and VRM is fed by heat pipes, which is then ventilated by two fans.

The XFX R7970 Double Dissipation comes in two variants, the Black Edition variant features clock speeds of 1000 MHz core and 1425 MHz (5.70 GHz effective) memory; while the base Double Dissipation variant sticks to AMD reference clock speeds of 925 MHz / 5.50 GHz. There is also an AMD reference-design "core" version in the works. The card packs 3 GB of GDDR5 memory across a 384-bit wide memory interface. It uses the same display output cluster as every other HD 7970, with one dual-link DVI, an HDMI 1.4a, and two mini-DP connectors; but features a custom-designed rear-panel bracket with XFX branding.

A video presentation of this card follows.

Looks good indeed. I especially like the noise results.

noise isnt of big concern per say. Power Consumption and temperatures are down though, i can only imagine what the OC version ensues...

I cant wait to see what Sapphire, HIS, Powercolor, MSI have instore for the non factory cards...

or Sapphire TOXIC/Powercolor PCS+/HIS ICE-Q Turbo

Cooler reminds me of Palit's GTX 570 Sonic/Sonic Platinum.

For a review (as of current drivers that is) of the black edition, check out PCPer.com. So far, not great looking, but also mainly do to lack of driver functionality and the like it seems.

excluding this card doesn't take up 3 slots like those did or Asus/Powercolor

I have tested this card for the website in working at
The overclocking abilities are very good, compering to any graphcis cards. compering to other HD7970 models it falls somewhere in the middle.
The cooling? its freaking awesome

Anybody watch the video? XFORMANCE? That's a bit of a stretch, guys.

Aw man nice not to be all Martha Stewart and shit but really digging the looks and colors as I have a black and white theme at present (black case and mobo, B&W fans, white tubing with black fittings, white lighting). I love all the B&W stuff coming out lately including the Apogee HD block I'm about to buy for $60 woo!
