In addition to a few new Android tablets, at this year's CES ViewSonic also unveiled a fresh dual-boot Windows/Android tablet PC which is set to hit North American stores before the end of this month, the ViewPad 10pi. This quite bulky (266 x 13.5 x 180 mm) tablet is pre-loaded with Windows 7 Professional and Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), has a 10.1-inch (1280 x 800) IPS touchscreen, and is powered by a 1.5 GHz Atom Z670 processor.

ViewSonic's device also features 2 GB of RAM, a 64 GB SSD, a 3.2-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 1.2MP front camera, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, an SD card slot, two USB 2.0 ports, and a 2890 mAh battery enabling up to 4 hours of operation per charge. The ViewPad 10pi is expected to sell for $849.

Like the idea of dual boot! 2 gb ram is good too,

3 letters: OMG! That thing is a beast when considering tablets. Hey maybe I should have waited to pick up that Kindle Fire.....

Awesome, I hope we see more of these... HDMI out would be the icing on the cake, and USB 3.0 for faster storage and media use (hook up to TV)

"up to 4 hours per charge" is vomit worthy though... That means always less than 4 hours, nevermind if you are doing anything like watching a video.

True dat. And saying it's a 2890 mAh battery doesn't mean anything without voltage (12v or 5v?). Love the idea though.

850 bucks ....... WTF!!!!!

699$ would have been better. But on top of that it is Viewsonic and Android 2.3... No thank you :/

I'll wait for an ASUS Transfer-esque table that dualboots ICS and windows 8, now THAT will be awesome. But even Android 3 and Windows 7 would have been fine, ICS and windows 7 would have been great. At that price I wouldn't expect any less than ICS

According to ViewSonic's website the tablet has a 10.8V/2890mAh, 32Wh battery.

Seriously, why are they wasting their time on Gingerbread when the ICS source code has been out for about two months now, and CM9 is coming soon?

Almost double the price of iPad 2 at double weight and tripple short battery life, I would say tripple double no go.

I've owned a Viewpad7, as far as android tablets go, it sucked. really wish viewsonic would either release a good tablet or not at all. these half ass attempts are pointless. especially at $850. FAIL!

I came in to bash viewsonic but you beat me to it :toast:
I bought one Tegra 2 10S viewsonic, and it was the absolutely worst, gutless, atrocious tablet with an unusable (viewing and touch) screen I have ever seen on any product in my life. heck, even a first gen apple Newton has a better screen then it had. never ever ever again veiwsonic, your tablets are atrocious.

I understand that previous bad experiences afflicts ones view of something, but this is a new product. Old stuff is not really an indication on what the new one will be like. Me I think it looks good, but I guess only time and reviews will tell.

I'd buy this over an iPad anyday

iPads are way too limited IMO. I prefer standard Android tablets by far. Plus iPads are a rip-off price/perf.
