And even a cheap Athlon II will last most people a few years without a problem, because most people aren't doing anything that requires a faster CPU.

This is true... but yet i dont know the last time Ive seen an intel commercial on tv yet... I get numerous house wives wanting nothing less than an I3...I5 preferably.... Do intel advertise in woman's day or vanity fair or something? No...but everyone googles... And read our reviews and posts. Enthusiasts may not set sales records...but our views do influence the market.

Software A lot.
Benchmark Scores Its fast. Enough.
I was coming here specifically to point this out. I think the 4170 might be the first retail processor to ever be clocked at 4GHz+ out of the box.

Considering almost every build I do personally will be AMD for a good long while(due to Intel locking down overclocking on any chip less than $250), yes I care.

Bang for the buck in almost every application but intense workloads AMD does have the market cornered. Plus their integrated or on board GPU's rape Intels.

Really? Where the hell do you live that you haven't see an Intel commercial? Do you watch TV? You should google Intel commercials and then google AMD commercials.. Eample: Intel had a commercial during the Super Bowl..

LOL yeah. I see them every day! As a side note every laptop commercial has the Intel label or reference imbedded into it! AMD should be advertizing.

Yes graphically amd stomps....in business what seperates the day by bayers from the leaders is the willingness to invest in the best to elevate their business. Professional grade and all that. Would you put your money in a bank that was an old mcdonalds.....with walmart furniture and office equipement... Because they offered you a good deal. Sometimes you get the same level of return that that u invested. And speed is all that sets u apart from the next guy.

If AMD would invest in advertizing they just might have made an impact on Intel. But as I see it they are far behind in that area? And in this day and age it is all about getting the word out, AMD has failed to do so.

You know AMD should intro some commercials and not the same stuff. Look AMD is just pulling what Intel pulled during the P4 days! Doesn't any one see this? All AMD is doing now is milking that Bulldozer for all it is worth thinking that it will make them some thing they are NOT! Man Netburst P4 deja vu!

LOL. Not as much as the HP/Dell commercials do. I mean who hasn't heard the Intel chime even if you just mention Intel you hear bum, bum, bum, bum. Not with AMD, I hear nothing at all.

difference being that AMD at almost 4ghz doesn't burn the house down like the 3.73 P4s

So what? Really it is just doing the same thing no matter if it is not as hot or not. You can justify it all you like and excuse AMD all you like when I see them playing the same game Intel did with the P4 I call BULLSHIT! You all got on Intel for this but now excuse AMD for playing the same old tired game? That is what pisses me off. AMD is just upping the speed of the cores not like you can not do this as it is! They over clock it for you? Then what kind of head room do you think you will get? 6GHz? 7 maybe even 8GHz? Fools all who think this are fools! Think is is better because it is faster out of the BOX? Blinded and foolish!

Sure Intel did this with the P4 and Netburst! Got so many people all worked up for NOTHING! But AMD does it and no one cares they say things like COOL and alright!

AMD did quite a few commercials...

Anyhow as for these new CPU i was expected 95w or less i guess we'll have to wait Piledriver for that , soon i hope?

Not one made it to the T.V. screen in my home only Youtube! See the problem there?
Normally commercials are made for T.V. not the internet! And normally you want to get them to put it on during ...... wait for it ....... PRIME TIME VIEWING!

Do you live in a cave? Intel has constant adverts in the United Kingdom.

Also PC Worlds and Dells adverts, or any OEM website typically has the Intel logo at the corner of the screen.

Heck even HPs Superbowl commercial had "Intel" logo at the end http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyI5OnECBoM

Intel advertise in gadget and gaming magazines which are targetted at men. I suspect the husbands tell their wives to go for Intel,

I love how you can just assume that anyone who is disagreeing with you is a fanboi basically. I never got on intel for these tactics, as a matter of fact I ran P4 Celerons back in the day. IDC if its a good CPU or not, the fact its clocked at 4.1ghz @ stock is a good thing IMO because it show promise, Intel could easily release 4ghz core i3 or i5 if they really wanted to.

LOL. read the rest first. Even if its not a good CPU it may cause Intel to bump thier clocks up. Considering the fact that my i5 2400 can go up to 4ghz by playing with the limited multiplier i dont think 4ghz Intel CPUs are that far off.

Its hard to even take ur comment (emoticon) seriously when all you do is highlight part of my sentence and throw that /bangs head in there. Maybe constructive criticism or even a sentence in english would help.

Why are there still no reviews on the 4170 & 6200 on any tech sites? Has no one had samples?

After having a 2500k rig (twice), FX 6100 rig, and now a 3930k rig, all I can think of to say is "Where's Piledriver already?".
These rehashed BD SKU's are less than appealing, even if they do have a cheap price. There is such a humongous gap between BD and Sandy Bridge that its basically impossible to recommend BD to anyone, especially when a cheap i3 2100 walks all over the FX 4100 & FX 6100 in mostly everything. Piledriver needs to come out NOW.

I don't think AMD is giving them out, and its obvious as to why. It's the same reasons most reviews sites didn't receive any FX 4100 and FX 6100's; they perform pretty crummy in most benchmarks. It doesn't mean its a bad CPU, I had a FX 6100 and thought it was sufficient enough for most things, but when you compare it to a 2500k (which was only $30-35 more during BD launch), the comparisons are just plain embarrassing for AMD.

£30 More for a 2500K here, but I'd still have to spend over £100 on top for a decent Mobo. I can drop an FX into my current Mobo fine but I'm not doing so without seeing a decent review. Also when I do see reviews of other FX cpus they just focus on comparisons with Sandy-Bridge. I have a Phenom and I'm sure I can't be the only one. More reviews comparing FX to Phenom would be appreciated.
