Bethesda studios announced that as much as they'd love to see Elder Scrolls IV- Oblivion, it will never find itself there. The Nintendo Wii simply doesn't have enough power to run the very demanding game. Of course, this doesn't explain how they managed to stick Oblivion on the PSP, which is essentially a much smaller version of the PS2.

um the psp is 33mhz faster and actually includes more sophisticated stuf and though it is extremely underpowered at only 233mhz it is absolutely dedicated everything happens in 1 chip

I didn't ever think it would come to the Wii...

Oblivion is just one of those games which does work best as a PC game.

I guess my onboard video (gforce 6100) can run it just fine, but the wii can't...

Actually Oblivion is a Console game. It was developed for the Xbox 360 and runs horribly on the PC.

No, it cant. No onboard can run Oblivion and even if u had the 6200 it still couldnt run Oblivion even on the lowest of settings. Remmember that a GPU is the most important part of ur PC and u should consider upgrading it and it alone.

Yeh, the PSP is more powerfull and it also has to push a much lower resolution than the PS2 so it can afford better graphics. However, the fact that the resolution is so incredibly low makes it so that u can barely see the graphics due to a horrible ammount of aliasing.
This is ontop of the PSP's 25ms screen wich has more ghosting than actuall gaming.
Luckily racing games dont suffer much from ghosting and Burnout Legends has the bst controls of any racing game ive seen, and i play it 5 hours a day (now that ive finished it).

Well, the PSP isnt getting a full version of the game. Its only getting a much smaller port, although that hasnt been confirmed yet. The game is 2 months from release and we havnt even seen a screenshot..

But u cant compare a console to a portable anyway. The PSP has the most amazing graphics ever in the portable market and its in the same generation as the PS3 and Xbox 360. Portable graphics are always going to be less than consoles and ppl understand and accept that. So while i respect the PSP as having amazing graphics i cannot respect the Wii because even though it has a graphics wich are a little better, people expect a lot more out of it because its a console. Personally, i think the Wii is a slap in the face to all of us Nintendo FanBoys and im not going to buy it.

By saying it works best as a PC game I was talking about the gaming experience overall, not just how smooth it runs at maxed graphics.

Some games work better with a keyboard and mouse, some work better with a console controller (which you can admittedly get for a PC). And I don't know what I hate more - fanboys that spend their lives defending a company or fanboys that spend their lives attacking one.

Thread cleaned, next time I'll be a lot more careful when pressing "Merge Posts" :p.

I bet it can... I could play UT2k3 on the old Nforce 2 IGP. I don't see why a 6100IGP couldnt. Its got 4x the memory bandwidth, and hardware T&L iirc.

runs fine for me.

Its probably the fact that the Xbox 360 developers kit takes normal code and translates it? the 360 isnt that far off from a pc. More than the first xbox, but look at how the halo port turned out. I'd say they did a great job.

wow. you play your psp for 5 hours a day?

Give this man a COOKIE!

As for not suffering ghosting, I beg to differ. Racing games are amoung the worst.

Actually my friends 6200LE runs oblivion.... on all lowest settings and looks like bum mind you but it still does it.

you would be surprised what low-end cards can run hell i could run CS and half life on my ti4200 (not very well but it still runs)

my post just disapear into "oblivion" then zek

(like the pun? :p )

i want a psp.its a lovely gadget for a guy to own,(btw,i'm still a little drunk).i am gonna get me a psp this year and aquire lots of games.

and oblivion on the wii:laugh:

Lol! If you can't fix it? Hide it!

exactly lol, cant even remember what my original point was to repost it :wtf:

anyway if you want to play games like oblivion, gears of wars, lost planet, you dont get a wii for that, wii is for back to basics gaming, clean simple and fun.

the wii is a fun console pure and simple.if you want gr8 graphics its gotta be a 360.

the wii is a fun console pure and simple
So other consoles aren't fun...? I think you mean that the Wii has something different, aka the controller. Not pure and simple fun, since I find both my Wii and 360 fun but the Wii is more about getting the gamer involved. The PS3 is shocking, wheres my rumble!!! :(

The rumble got sued away, so instead you get physics-sensitive controller and a more trigger-like R2 and L2 :).

Are you saying the PSP's visuals are only slightly worse than the wii's????? cause that's pretty far-fetched, and a completely false statement. Sure the psp has some nice visuals for a portable, but games don't even look like their ps2 ports. The PSP does have decent visuals...but not amazing in any way. The real issue is that Oblivion is geared towards a high end system, but the wii isn't. They probably just don't want to go through the hassle of rewriting a bunch of code so that it works on the wii. If they did port the game like that it wouldn't be ported for the wii hardware, it would probably look terrible, the controls wouldn't be anything special and no one would buy it.

I definately wouldn't want to play this on the Wii. So far, on all FPSs, the only way to turn (rotate) is by aiming the controller off the screen... how un1337. The Wii truly is the console for total noobs.

Well, the Wii is about as powerfull as the Xbox.
The PSP is potentially more powerfull than the PS2..
Logic would have it that the PSP would have slightly less eye candy.

If ur saying that u cant SEE the eye candy on the PSP, well thats because its only running at 2/3 of it's power to conserve battery life.. it has been doing so for 2 years now and every title has only had that much to work with..

So in all, i guess the PSP at this point is about as powerfull as the DreamCast.

I actually dont find the Wii more fun. I know thats what everyone keeps saying.. because in all truth, if the Wii is NOT more fun, then its a complete waste of money since it has droped the most important thing - visuals, but the Wii's controller is just.. "different", but definetely NOT better.
You cant play every title with a Wii-mote. You can only play a few mini-games and maybe a bad console FPS with it. The Wii-mote begs to bring more reality to game mechanics, but how is flying a plane the same as holding a remote? The gamepads at least dont try to become what they are controlling and controlling a game with the Wii-mote is not fun because there is almost no precision, meaning that the only place where u could actually use it for real and not get frustrated is again, in a mini-game and those are the only games that are selling right now.. and the only ones to get good reviews.

Personally, I think the Wii has some great graphics, though not leaps and bounds better than the Gamecube, the way the PS3 and Xbox 360 are over their siblings. I love the way Zelda, Twilight Princess looks, its beautiful. While I admit I dont much care for getting Oblivion on the Wii ( I dont own one, YET!!) I think they could "dumb" it down for the Wii if need be. :)

If you've ever played Wario-Ware - the game which is composed entirely of minigames, you'd shove your wii Mote in the garbage disposal due to the fact that there is absolutely no precision. The Wii mote is a total let down to those of us who are actually good at video games.

Don't start any fights, mout12.

# CPU: PSP CPU 222mhz
# Main Memory: 32MB
# GPU: 166mhz
#Vram: 4Mb

#CPU: 733mhz penteron (p3 cut down like a celeron)
#Main memory: 64Mb
#233mhz GPU

Nforce MCP for audio handling.

If the Wii is as powerful as the xbox, and the PSP has /slightly/ less visuals, DAMN, wheres all that power coming from? Steroids?

The PSP doesnt even have an MMU.
