This thing isn't exactly playing the strengths of a laptop, a matter-of-fact it's in desktop territory at desktop pricing. So why wouldn't I, or anybody in fact, just buy a desktop which would be more powerful for what they're asking.

Some people might work on the road/in a hotel and dont have the option to bring their desktop with them. Its a niche market but there IS a market. That said, no one I know has ever had good luck with a high dollar laptop. They always end up overheating or failing in some way. Best bang for buck is usually the best idea. I'm sure a $1000 laptop these days can push out 1/2 the performance of this thing, which should be plenty.

I was making a point to the poster that commented on this laptop. The point is that he thinks that the price is a big joke and that the laptop isn't worth what they are advertising it for... You have to take some big things in to consideration when speaking on pricing of laptops... It isn't a desktop, and with that being said you don't have the means to build this device. Additionally, the specifications of this laptop are beyond top of the line.

I personally will not buy this because I think the money can be better invested in to a desktop rather than a laptop. Laptops are meant for mobile production and not game stress for hours. Although, I do believe the price of this laptop is warranted.

All people I know who had a high end laptops were complaining about their massive overheating noise machines which all ended up being outdated and/or malfunctioning quite fast.
I do respect and appreciate Origin's enthusiasm here of course, I'm just a little worried and skeptical about if the performances of top tier desktop PCs are really doable in the "laptop form factor" or not.

But the price is "OK" (imo), considering this is really premium quality. Try to design, order the parts and build something like this, market it, pay up your employees and the running costs of your business, and lets see if you can do it cheaper

Yep, a 1000 bucks laptop is pretty good these days. It will have 650m or so with FHD screen. If you up the budget to 1300ish, you will get 660m or 670m even. And they are portable.

My $800 laptop has an i7, 8GB DDR3, 660GTXM, 1080p, and 4-5 hr battery life

I don't see how they can price this at $3200. A Sager has a better reputation in reliability and cheaper.
