While NVIDIA's recently launched GeForce GTX 780 is available in a plethora of custom-designs, the GeForce GTX TITAN, which is based on the same reference-design PCB, is limited to those with factory-fitted water-blocks, or NVIDIA's reference-design cooler, that's not to say that we don't like the sexy space-age cooler. GIGABYTE is itching to circumvent NVIDIA's restriction on custom-design air coolers, with an interesting bundle. The company plans to bundle its new WindForce 3X 450W VGA cooler, with select batches of NVIDIA reference design GTX TITAN cards, with instructions on how end-users can replace NVIDIA's cooler with GIGABYTE's, without affecting warranty from GIGABYTE's side. One such user-retrofitted GeForce GTX TITAN was spotted at Computex, which looks nearly identical to the GeForce GTX 780 WindForce OC, and the GTX 770 WindForce OC. The bundle will be marketed as GV-NTITAN-6GDB.

Should be easy to sell the Titan cooler to all those Gtx 770 people who want the reference cooler so bad.

Exactly, and to make up for the $100 premium.

Ah one big suck it to NV?

If you don't suck it you will not get your Titan chips. Simple

Maybe one day AMD will be big enough to force true competition. For now NV has the upper hand, knows it and uses it to its advantage.

They have had true competition for ages. Right at this moment Nvidia has the upper hand, but that is the way of the game.

Also, am I the only one who thing the Titan cooler does not look THAT good? I mean it looks good, but it's not that pretty..

It does look that good but I'll take the lower temps with the WF3 cooler over stock anyday.

Iirc AMD did the same when they released 6990, but relaxed as Nvidia caught up.
