OC'ing, as stated before it's not a given, i've been running 4.8-5.2 with a Skt 478 cooler for couple yrs now 24/7, on a board, quote from tooo many places/people "that proablly wont be much for OC'ing"
XTU is a supurb utility for the Intel board's, and was what I used for most all my OC tuning, and yes it took a couple weeks to get it there, the result's were far better than anyone expected. Even Dave helping me tune the Sammy Green Ram, made a world of differance. So you never know what to expect, killer Mushkin Ram didnt cut it, but "cheapo" Ram was awesome;)

They both seem to have similar SLI/CFX spacing, there is min of 3 slot gap, GFX then 2 PCI-e slots then Second GFX, then there is a third slot on the bottem, so if you have a long enough bridge, a few inch's there............
TBH, the jury is still out on PCIe 3 vs 2 It's "micro points" for benching really.

Again for me I wanted the stabailty of a Genuine Intel board, they both appear to be good, but from what feedback I had recieved when I wanted a solid stable board, most all pointed me to the Intel, pointing out LAN, Audio, layout and design as being top notch. Just's turns out it was like my 'ole AGP BLISS GLH, a BEAST!! I can say that with my audio, SPDIF out and a very HQ audio track, thru my VSX 39 TX and just the Infinity RS speakers, at very high volume levels, the Dynamic range is outstanding, like when the elevator ride with Pink floyd, Wish You were Here at the end there is this awesome fade out of a "poing-pang" that is just jaw dropping to hear just before it has total silance.

I'm not completly trying to sway you either way, and I'm not going to Bash another product, just trying to give you anwser's for information to help you.

If you have narrowed down to the two boards I say get the Intel, I have one and I'm happy with it. I have had a fleet of Intel Motherboards and for sure they overclock just as well or better in some cases than other brands, the issue is if you are comfortable with the Intel BIOS most people are not comfortable with Intel BIOS.

As for me i love the Intel BIOS layout ever since my first Intel Board 7 years ago, I'm not much of an overclocker though I've been running my former DZ68BC and i7-3770 non K @ 4.3GHz on a stock Intel cooler for 1 year no problem still works to date with the same overclock to the person i sold it to. Though as usual a proper cooler should be used while overclocking.

oc performance depends on hardware, setting etc so you may get different result.
personally as long as the space is enough like when you run dual slot card its ok but just make sure you have good airflow so your card can breath and lowering your temp overall

I have one of these cases, might have a bit of trouble fitting the cards in there but it does have room for two intake fans for ventilation and on the side panel.

The main thing im looking for in a motherboard is audio since that is what has broke on my motherboard at the moment, what audio chip set do these boards have, Realtek?

You want sound? Get the Asus Maximus VI Hero. Dave rated the sound abilities of that board as one of the highest of the z87s he has reviewed.

I just want sound that is reliable, my current motherboards sound card is playing up, it is buzzing when i am in games and sometimes in windows too. I dont know if ill be able to fit 2 gpu's and a sound card in my current case, I ill have to buy another case.

Well then any board then. One more vote for the MSI. But if that doesn't work for you, due to the brown PCB. Theres always the Gigabyte UD4H (Same price as the MSI).

On most all M/B's the sound is Intel HD from the PCH chip, it's where each vendor impliments the RealTek Codec and modifying the componets with either better or cheaper componets.
The few boards that have choose to use, a High End sound from say Creative Labs ect.

So they all have intel HD chips and realtek is only a codec?

EDIT: So I have made up my mind, I will be going with the Intel board, since Protagonist and revin have had hands on experience with intel boards. Thank you for the help.

Yeah I probably will, the only thing that's putting me off the msi is its brown PCB, it looks crap, but then again I don't look inside the case anyway. They also have the MPOWER ones that are black.

That PCB is black but under lighting conditions for product photography (bright!) it does tend to photograph that way - with that tinge of brown/black. Same thing applies for the MPOWERs as well which I noticed early on. Looks great, but get them under very bright lighting and take some pictures and they won't look the same as hands on regular viewing.
