New ASUS P8Z77-I Deluxe Waterblock from Bitspower

Bitspower, the Taiwanese water cooling and modding specialist, recently launched the first water block designed for ASUS' previous generation mITX wonder board, the P8Z77-I Deluxe. While no longer the best mITX board on the market, the Haswell launch parade made sure of that, the P8Z77-I Deluxe did develop quite a following, particularly with the SFF crowd, selling in good numbers for its segment and making the rounds in a plethora of SFF projects that sprung on various enthusiast boards around the web.

The Bitspower AIZ77ITXD block makes use of high quality acrylic for the top cover and nickel plated copper for its base. The top cover comes in two versions, either transparent acrylic (Clear) or a semi-transparent black acrylic (ICE Black). The block's design approaches the full cover idea to a larger degree than any other motherboard block I've seen, accommodating all the heat generating components on the board, the CPU, the Z77 chipset and the vertical VRM as well. A design concept that Bitspower refers to as Unibody Style Construction Design (U.S.C.).

This is actually a great idea. The portability of mITX with the assurance that you can clock your CPU high without burning your board. Throw this in a Bitfenix Prodigy with a 240mm rad... awesome.

The CPU fin look too big and too few to be very effective
 
This is all very nice, but it seems slightly stupid to design something for an older gen. Why did they not spend the time on developing this for the Z87 counterpart, something which a lot of enthusiasts will be buying, and wanting this kind of cooling solution for an extreme LAN PC?

I would guess that they're assuming most people who spend this kind of money & time on extreme custom water cooling will want to do so on a platform that will overclock well - this would be kind of pointless on Haswell, limited to 4.4 - 4.8 GHz (depending on CPU). But who knows, they may release a block for the Z87 Impact next week.

Maybe you should speak with Dave about overclocking with Haswell :laugh:
Sandy was better for OC'ing than IVY, but I dont see somebody releasing a funky block for that architecture.

It looks like a modified GFX card block. As such i doubt it will be a good performer :o
 
Cool idea, but it's too bad Bitspower makes it, since they make the worst performing blocks by a huge margin.
 
I like the idea, but if I was going mitx (I am) I find the apogee drive II much more appealing and space efficient.

I hope the Asus Maximus Impact gets some full cover love.

This would work great with ASUS 670 directCU Mini ... if only there is full cover block for it
