BF4 has nothing visually superior to BF3 to warrant the performance hit. Though I understand it's a beta, frankly I was expecting smooth gameplay even if I would get around 30-40 FPS compared to the 50s I am getting in BF3, at the same settings and that is ULTRA preset. Instead it feels very uneven, stutters, heavy dips in frames and generally unpleasant play while I use only 2MSAA (without AA it looks like crap)... Otherwise everything is fine, nothing special, I still think it's BF 3.5.
This is exactly how I feel after a few hours running the open beta. It's game runs reasonably well for me but there is frame stutter here and there and my 670 is not getting taxed fully yet - at the settings I have set. Dice needs to further optimize the network code, in addition to the heavy CPU usage vs. GPU usage. Wonder too if its a ploy to get pc players to upgrade to a better gfx card and/or CPU?
Overall the Shanghai conquest map is a good map with open urban warfare mixed with pockets of close quarter action, i.e. top of the skyscraper. I wonder if there is a Rush option?
