The MSI A88X-G45 GAMING, one of MSI's new AMD FM2+ based GAMING motherboards, recently broke the CPU Frequency overclocking record for the AMD A10-7850K processor by validating a smashing 6137.91 MHz clock speed. Why is the voltage so suspiciously low?
 
Probably because CPU-Z doesn't yet properly support Kaveri?

Don't know tbh, but it wouldn't be the first time voltage readings were off on new CPU's.
 
This was done in XP? Is XP better for benchmarking? Not a bencher, just curious. :confused:

That's odd. Their cpu-z screenshot is not in XP.
 
More than likely whatever speed that can be reached on an MSI production mobo can also be reached or exceeded on an Asus, Asrock or Gigabyte mobo so i'd take the marketing hype with a large grain of salt. Even though I have used and not had issues with some MSI mobos I would not consider them to be the best mobos available or at the top level.
 
i dunno, i just feel like pushing higher is now very wow right now

Depends on the benchmark but most CPU benchmarks run better on XP especially Super Pi 1M and 32M
 
This is great and all. I understand this is more of a marketing hype and a bench test just hope everyone else see this as well.

Lets loud up some multi-threaded programs and see the magic fall. 1 core blah

also loud up a game such as Battlefield 4 and see how well off this thing does.

Yea i was just thinkin' something along that, but even with this 6ghz clock it still slower then intel in single thread performance. Don't see what point of people posting these overclocks, only have 1 core enabled is completely pointless. Second you disable a core on the cpu its a waste of cpu.

I already saw that. I was talking about the SCREENSHOT as it says in your quote.

Obviously it could be a theme, but why would you theme an XP install being used for benchmarks?

I doubt it would be a theme, typically if you benchmark on an XP build, it is going to be a straight install. Nothing else installed, especially not a graphics intense theme.

Also, if you look at the screenshot it seems to have Aero transparency enabled. I don't think they even themed that into XP. Granted its been YEARS since I ran XP, so I might be out of the loop. But I doubt they are running windows blinds or something on an install they are about to start benching on.

Yada yada yada. Heard this story before.

Its nice to see what these chips are capable of and whats in store for the future parts.
 
That's not an XP screenshot. No way.
