This might sound a little weird but I am very colour coordinated and with the rest of my components all black, seeing the Gigabyte 280x's Blue PCB really annoys me.

I am actually considering spray painting the PCB. I have seen it done a few times but also some people have failed it and killed their hardware which is putting me off as I saved up for a long time to get two 280x's.

Is there anyone or any-place that would actually let me trade these for a black PCB edition. I would trade the 280xs for another set of 280x in black or a black set of 770s.

Another thing I have been looking at is backplates. They manage to hide the back PCB pretty well. I haven't really found any that match my board which is a bit disappointing.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I simply "make my own" backplate, as in just cut out a bit of black material into the shape of the card lol.. I really cant stand it being blue ahaha

Yeah I got it from overclockers, I just emailed them to see if they would let me "trade it in" with them for a different one. My hopes arnt that high though :/

I guess I could sell them and get another new ones but I really dont want to do that unless its the only way

The risk of damaging the card is higher than the benefit. Just save cash and sell the card and look for a different one

yeah, or you can make custom shroud to cover it. its safer and may meet your style than paint it

electrical tape? i Know that wouldnt damage the PCB, or it's components, and if done right, CAN look pretty seamless. Short of trading the Cards in, THAT would be My choice, IF the color is that important.

Is there a back plate available for the card from someone like EK? That'd be a simple fix for you if they have it.

Thanks for the suggestions.. hmmm soo many ideas. I got a reply from Overclockers. It was basically one sentence which translates to : No. xD
I have looked for backplates but apparently the gigabyte one is not the usual PCB and it wouldn't fit :/

overclockers uk are assholes. they take ages to do anything. I think you need to try and cover in electrical tape... that'll work well and won't kill anything

Have you measured the temperatures on them?

If I were you I'd save up money and wait for black PCB 800 series cards.
