TechPowerUp's foray into the YouTube medium can be led by you. Yes, you! Do you think you can talk hardware and gaming in front of a camera, for our thousands of readers? If so, sign up for our TechPowerUp YouTube Channel project, and you could be the face of this site on YouTube. All you need to be, is aged between 21 and 30, based in US or Canada; be presentable (we're not too strict on this), and have a good command over English, with an easy international accent; have basic video editing skills, and most importantly, have a good aptitude with PC hardware (you needn't be too technically sound or have a formal education in this area).

Upload a sample of your work, while keeping it "unlisted" (eg: describe a piece of hardware, or explain a recent news story at length, while keep it interesting. We are interested in seeing your face, personality and speech), and e-mail a link to that video to w1zzard@techpowerup.com . You needn't be a regular forum member of TechPowerUp. Do not post links to your videos in the comments. We will get back in touch with shortlisted candidates to talk turkey.

This project is going to be difficult since most candidates outside of US, Canada and Europe don't have or can get a good Internet Connection ;)

Good luck with the project :)

:pimp::pimp::pimp:

based out of the US or Canada

Out of? as in you are not allowed to enter if you live in the US or Canada?
Why?

Because.... reasons :D

Ageist bastards. Plenty of guys out there on their 30's doing really good work on tech. Hell, what's our forum members average age?
FTR, I started this post as a tongue in cheek reply but you know what? 30yrs old age limit, that's just fucked.

I think W1z should be the face of TPU. :D

I agree with @the54thvoid that the age limit should be increased, though.

It's also against the law in many countries to set an age limit when advertising a vacancy.

I'm pretty sure airlines do that in their cabin crew / flight attendant job ads.

EDIT:
Ok thanks for the clarification

Can you give us a deadline (have a new case coming, might do something with it)?

How come it's for people outside US and Canada? Fine by me since I'm in England, but still curious.

Sorry, I can see how that can be misread. Fixed. We're seeking entries only from US and Canada (this is for accent, logistical and passport-mobility reasons). We can make an exception for someone from the UK, if they think their accent is clear.

as if many in US have awesome upload speed...

Guys you have failed the first test....basic English.
Based out of US or Canada means that you live in US or Canada.

Having said that it's still ageist, I'm 42 speak wonderful clear English, can edit video and I know my shit. Oh well their loss.

Maybe take 4 weeks. You needn't do it with new hardware. Pick out just any PC component, and try to describe it as if it just came out.

Yes, let's ask the people in South Korea or Japan how much slower their internet is compared to the US or Canada. (/sarcasm)

The text has been amended. The "job" opening is for people that live in the US or Canada. Not sure about the accent part. I think they actually need someone with an "international english" accent, as in "no accent". Even if british accents are all the rage right now. Maybe that needs to be clarified too.

Not to mention I'm extremely handsome (thing George Clooney) and I have a clear, international British accent, due to living outside of my home country for 20 years.
But 42 man...too old yo!

Edit:- Just to be clear, the handsome thing is a bit of a joke....or is it?

Actually a Brit can make it rather hard to understand internationally.
Much rather would one have someone that speaks English as second language, that avoids the usage of a most lesser known words and keeps the English simple and understandable for all.

How "mobile" is your passport? How close are you to California (if we decide to send you for interviews/visits in the Bay Area)? How are air-fares in your country compared to US/Canada (because they're going to be on our coin)? How easy is it for us to send hardware into your country with minimal BS at the customs? These are some of the reasons why we're iffy with people outside North America.

I still find "based out of" sounding odd.
I am based in the US, that makes sense.
Based out of the US, out of it, as in, not in but out, yet it means you live in it.... idk seems illogical.

British passport so it's one of the best around, customs limit is 35 euro at the border and they have nothing better to do, so almost everything gets checked.
I'm in Helsinki, Finland so it's a fair trek. I'm just yanking your chain about the age thing, but really people over 30 still have a lot to offer too you know? :)

But if I still have your attention, I'm a server technician for Dell. So I am used to explaining hardware limits and features to my customers.

"Based out of" is valid English (eg: I'm based out of India), but I changed it so it's easier to read. The content of the OP never changed.

Age is not a 100% fixed criteria, if you are old and awesome, by all means, submit a video.

For US people I'd prefer 21 minimum age though, which would facilitate things like press events/tradeshows so we dont end up on a watch-list for buying you beers

I'm sure they do. A bulk of our readers are mid-late teens and 20-somethings, and quite a few in their thirties; with a very sharp pop-culture quotient. You think you can reach out to them? The market is rather tough, but we're starting off on solid ground with TPU's brand.

I have absolutely no doubts in your technical aptitude. These requirements are flexible. Send us a video when you can.

I'm going to make you a video, I just need something that interests me. I suppose I could rebox my GTX980 and do that. Going to visit my hometown for a few days first.

I can confirm 100% that the answer is NO. My friend is a F.A. and she is 56. And I know other ladies on their late 40 which are F.A.

Also I'm mid 30...
