Need advice on buying Dell U2711 monitor

Guys, I am thinking to buy an used one Dell U2711 for around $400 USD. I was reading reviews and found that it has noticeable input lag, so its not good enough for gaming. I generally play RTS games.
Should I worry about input lag? Is it good price to buy? Your opinion please.

Guys? I m using Samsung 2233SW 22' LCD from 2009. Never used high end monitors so I need advice before buying something about which I dont know.

You would be better off looking for a new/used U2713HM or U2715H. The U2711 is overpriced and a poor choice for gaming.

I was a user of U2711 changed to U2713HM. The monitor is bulky and considered obsolete already. Would suggest you U2713HM or 2715H as they are the newer updated batch. If you really are worry about input lags, you could specifically look at other monitors such as Asus 1440P 144hz monitor (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MSOND8C/?tag=tec06d-20) which is just $200 usd more for a brand new one.

I wouldn't bother with that monitor.

You'll do much better with either of these BenQ models which offer very low lag and high end features:

XL2720Z - 1080p 144Hz and BenQ backlight strobing so it will work with any graphics card to eliminate motion blur and at 144Hz too. I've got this monitor and it's fabulous.

XL2730Z - 1440p. It has the same features as the XL2720Z, but with the addition of FreeSync.

Thanks for replies guys. I have decided not to go with U2711, but not there aren't much options available in my country. There are only few options and their prices here are out of this world!
I will look forward to other used WQHD monitor if I find any.

btw, I am skeptical about 27 inch monitors with FHD resolution. I once tried gaming on 32" FHD TV and pixel gap was too annoying for me. Considering I am using 22" FHD monitor, is 27" FHD monitor suitable for gaming?

Sorry about the availability and price in India. Well, at least I hope we prevented you from buying an expensive lemon.

I've got two 27" FHD monitors and can tell you that they look fine. If you've got very sharp eyesight and sit really close then the pixelation might bother you, but otherwise there's no problem, it's lovely, clear picture that fills your field of view nicely. Having said that, the extra real estate of 1440p is nice and quite useful.

the only time input lag is acceptable is in racing or flying games where the motion of the vehicle is eased & planned for

the other time is using a controller, it's not AS BAD as using the mouse, so actually an RTS game would be a big problem for monitor input lag since the cursor will be delayed

(alternate RTS example when using a fast monitor, if the game has vsync & input lag caused by it, if a hardware cursor is used, the cursor would match your movement & the game UI would be delayed, the delay wouldnt matter as long as your movement & clicks are exactly where you want them to be)
