Best gpu under 250?

So after replacing my cooling today my r9 280x crapped out. I dont want to spend more than 250 on a new card. I play bf4.

R9 380X

Yet , i would prefer GTX 960 : A little slower than R9 280X but draws less power thus less heat

Edit:
As long as GTX 760 is used , no need of GTX 960 or R9 380X , just save a little more for GTX 970 /R9 390 or new Polaris/Pascal

Well the best card in that range is going to be the R9 380X which will end up being a slight upgrade but not an extreme amount. The next step up is $300 which would net you an R9 390 or similar.

i just took off the stock cooler, installed h100i radiator, new thermal paste, and screwed it on. when i started the comp, this happened..
i tried reseating the card, and so on and nothing helps... poped it in another pc and same thing. luckly its got warranty still.. but in the meantime i gotta use this crap asus 550ti, which sure as hell cant handle bf4

So you didn't do anything to the card? That is odd...If its got warranty just use that for now and hold off until its returned would be me

Nope, card was left alone. maybe its just a coincidence it happened at this exact time... I did get a BSOD 2 times over this week something about faulty hardware corrupted page. Maybe that was it?

This post is awfully reminiscent of my experience when my 7970 died. I dismantled my pc to change some cooling situations for my cpu (rad, maybe tubing), and when I reinstalled everything, gpu was dead. I too experience several bsod's prior to dismantling, but at the time I thought nothing of it and didn't worry. Not til after did I figure it out.

I'd RMA the gpu. I lt sucks but I hope it goes smoothly for you

So. You say you are having issues with your R9 280. The screen shot shows exiting NVidia boot agent. Your system info shows a gtx 760.
Could you have wrong drivers?

actually that pc has no hd, i just poped it in there to see if its gonna be all corrupted. my sys info is old.. gotta update it. i managed to find a MSI 970 4gb (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127833) , nearly brand new for $240. had to drive about 40 minutes one way to get it though. guy was asking $290 but i managed to talk him down.

The PXE boot agent is for network adapters. I think the nVidia boot agent is built into the Realtek network chip used on the Sabertooth. But either way, during POST there are no drivers loaded, so that isn't a possibility.

If you say so, but in my experience when you get a message that says PXE rom etc, it means the boot sector of the drive isn't detected.

Right, but my understanding is: that photo is of another computer/motherboard which doesn't have a hard drive where he installed his video card to confirm the corruption at POST. Not his main system where the card failed.

In that case it appears the Vram on the card is faulty, possibly from overheating.

No! That is only one indication of one type of failure. If you get a SMART error, you most like have a drive that is failing. But drives can also fail without any SMART error indications.

Does it boot into Safe Mode?

Are you sure you didn't knock any power cables loose? While possible just bad timing occurred and this card did decide to die at this time, simply replacing the cooler on the CPU would not normally affect a graphics card. So I would look to see if you knocked something else loose in the process.

Err, he moved the card to a completely different computer to test it and had the same corruption at POST. I'd imagine we can rule that out.

Yep. I see few people missed that post. I bought another card because i am building someone a computer soon anyway so i will use the one that will come back from rma and felt it was time to upgrade mine anyway
