Update: Solved
Disabled onboard Killer NIC, enabled Intel NIC, and disabled forced HPET with bcdedit /set useplatformclock false
apparently EVGA motherboards don't play nice with HPET. thanks everyone for the help!
Hi all, I've recently built a new pc (specs in profile) and for some reason when I run Max Payne 3, a game that used to run pretty much flawlessly on my old sandy bridge i7 + geforce 560 ti, I'm getting absolutely unplayable framerates. I'm wondering if there's a way I can diagnose if something is wrong with my hardware, or if the game itself is messing up (and hopefully fix whatever's wrong).
Please let me know if you have any further questions or thoughts on the matter. I'll be checking this thread often to answer anything you guys ask or run whatever diagnostics you suggest.
edit: updated this post with some test results / temperature readouts
From what I've gathered thus far, my CPU is under performing for some reason.
temp test under load, showing poor performance in game
for some reason all my test results are half of what my friend's 6700k (clocked exactly the same) scores
CPU test results
GPU temperature and CPU usage while in game:
